ok so i just realised that THREE ENTIRE CHAPTERS are missing due to a fact check I wanted to make for the one I'm writing rn for friday. I am so sorry about that, it must've not made any sense (the transition from act 5 to act 6) i have no idea how this happened, why i didn't realize and I'm just so insanely sorry TT

"I mean...I don't think he's a bad person..." you paused, sat down right.
"I think that of very few people!" you quickly interjected before you continued with your actual sentence.
"But... I just don't think he suits me. Not that it's a matchmaking thing or anything, but I just don't get along with him very well. I just don't understand him. He babbled on at me the whole time and when I wanted to say something, he cuts me off coldly. He literally peppered me with questions, but when I asked him something about him, he just ignored me. His questions were also really personal and I just felt so uncomfortable..." you explained and pushed yourself further into the cushions of the couch, hoping to just disappear into it for at least a few hours.
"Talking rationally about it doesn't seem like an option. Why don't you explain the situation to your boss and ask for a new 'guardian' if necessary?" Chrollo suggested.
You appreciated his advice, but unfortunately it didn't work.
"Even if I did, I couldn't talk to Hisoka about it anyway. The boss proudly boasted that Hisoka will one day take over the business.." - "Then resign."
You jumped out from between the cushions as if struck by lightning and looked at Chrollo almost in horror.
,,No never! I'm glad I found a job so quickly. And the job itself is not bad. Hisoka is the only thing that bothers me, but as soon as I've more or less mastered the things I have to do, he doesn't hang around around me anymore. After that, all I have to do is smile and nod when he occasionally comes up to me and strikes up a conversation with me." with a sigh, you sat back down again.
Chrollo's suggestion was drastic, but certainly not meant in a bad way.
When you answered his suggestion, he just nodded, then it was quiet for a while.
You pulled out your phone and send a message to your parents.
When you looked up from your phone you could see the question mark on his face, he wanted to know what you were doing or planning to do.
"I wanted to call my parents later." You explained to Chrollo's unasked question, he nodded.
"What did you do today?" you asked him and based on his reaction you were sure that he was just as surprised by this question as you were when he asked it.
But Chrollo was way better than you in getting a grip of himself again.
"I've read through all the books in the study one more time."
"In one day?!" you asked in horror, but Chrollo laughed and shook his head.
"It takes a little longer than a day, there are at least a very few hundred. But I think I've read each one so many times that I could dictate a few pages of each word for word to you..." he replied, a slight smile on his face.
"What kind of books do you like?" you asked.
Maybe there was a library in town where you could borrow a book or two for a while so that Chrollo could read something other than the books in the study over and over again.
"I'm fascinated by antique books, especially old literary texts."
However, you were a little overwhelmed with his answer, which is why you only answered him with 'mmh' at first.
But your curiosity made you ask.
"I'm sorry, but what are this kind of books about?" you asked, feeling a bit stupid for not knowing.
On the other hand, you weren't too worried about Chrollo judging you for it either.
After all, he was from a completely different time than you and you were sure that, especially in moments like this, it was just as clear to him as it was to you.
"They can be about anything. But mostly it's about other people, about the author's explanation of time, space and everything that comes to mind. Today, one would probably classify such antique works as philosophy, medicine, romance, or even fantasy. Not infrequently, it is about religion and frequently asked questions, some of which we still have no answer to this day. They give insights into the thinking of the author and sometimes how they perceives and analyzes others."
Chrollo seemed completely in his element as he talked about the books and watching him talk made your decision to pay a visit to the town library final.
"What kind of books do you like, (Y/N)?"
You hadn't even noticed that Chrollo had turned to you and was looking at you almost expectantly.
Not only was it the genre of books that made you blush, but also how your name sounded in relation to his voice.
Embarrassed, you shared your favorite genre books with him, and he enthusiastically named and told you about a few works he had read in that direction.
With a voice like his you had little choice but to listen intently, even if you didn't know nearly as much about books as he did.
You were almost sad to have to interrupt him when it came time for your parents to call.
"Chrollo, I'm so sorry, but my parents will be calling at any moment..." you said with a sad look at the clock.
He just smiled, told you it was ok and that you could certainly continue the conversation at another time if you wanted.
"I'd love to!" you assured him with a smile before getting off the couch and grabbing the landline phone and heading upstairs to the bedroom.
You quickly switched to something more comfortable before the phone started to ring.
You sat on your bed and answered the call.
"Hey!" you greeted the person on the other end happily and got an equally happy one back.
"How are you?" your mother asked without hesitation.
"I'm fine, how are you?" you replied, pulling out your phone.
As you started to exchange the most usual things, a thought suddenly occurred to you.
Why not just look Chrollo up in the internet?
Chrollo had only told you a snippet of his past and had said himself that after being summoned on Halloween night he could remember almost nothing.
And especially now that he had told you his interests, your interest in knowing more about him increased.
You felt like you had that right, too, in a way, after all you lived with him.
