"I was just wondering..." you start, keeping Hisokas expression under a close eye to see how he reacts and if it's better for you retreat at some point.

"Two kids came in yesterday and they knew you, I'm just curious on how you knew them." you continue but Hisoka only raises an eyebrow.

Does he not know who you're talking about or does he think you're overstepping a line?

Well, if he thinks you did then he will be unbearable today anyways.

"I'm not quiet sure about their names but one of them had white hair and the other one had dark hair, they-" Hisoka interrupts you, like he almost always does.

"Ah, I think you're talking about Killua and Gon. They are nice kids but they still have a lot of room to grow." he says and his lips turn into a twisted grin.

With his weird reaction you're only able to press out a 'Okay' before you hurry inside the store to start your shift.

A co-worker who always takes the cash register comes in later that morning.

You don't know her well or even at all, you never got the chance to have a conversation with her.

All you know is that she had a accident a few years ago that left her body, as well as her face, disfigured and bloated and that her name is Melody.

She is very held back and always wears a hat and face mask when working, only taking shifts a few hours long and leaving quickly before the first break is set to start.

You're taking care of some shelf's by cleaning and filling them up, when Hisoka comes around to bother you.

He's just standing there, next to you, silently observing what you're doing.

Your mind wanders back to Melody, curiousity making itself prominent in your head.

Perhaps Hisoka knows more.

"Melody.." you're only able to carefully start before he proudly interrupts you, again.

"Oh, the ugly cashier?" he proudly says, at least that's what his smile is giving away.

You close your eyes to roll them and take a deep breath to stay calm and not grab him by the throat.

"The woman working at the cash register right now, yes.." you defend Melody, not calling her ugly like he did.

Yes, she is disfigured but she seems like a sweetheart and you would never dare to insult her like that.

"...what happened to her?" you ask and Hisoka shrugs before answering.

"She used to be a musician, especially talented with flutes. She was quiet famous and traveled the country to play in orchestras and was offered a chance to play solo with supporting musicians. Halfway through her first solo performance something happened though and she needed to be hospitalized. When she was released a year later, she didn't look like she did before. Barely touched a flute ever since, lost all her connections to her life before being hospitalized and keeps herself afloat with various jobs. Our boss made her a special contract so she could work here, I guess he just felt sorry for her." he explains.

"Do you know what happened at her solo performance?" you ask but Hisoka shakes his head no so you ask him about the special contract she has.

"The boss wanted her to interact with people again because she barely spoke to anyone for two years and I guess he just wanted to help her out with that. They agreed that she would start with an hour at the cash register once a week and that they'd increase her hours and days on how comfortable she is. This started around a year ago and now she comes three times a week for around four hours." he continues explaining and you nod in understanding.

Melody looks like a sweetheart with the way she interacts with the customers.

They all greet her, smile at her and thank her when she scanned their items.

You would like to talk to her when you get the chance.

You did not get the chance, at least not today.

By the time you take your break, Melody is already gone.

When you return you only get a few free minutes from Hisoka before he already clinges to you, eyeing what you're doing.

"What are you doing next thursday? On Halloween?" you interrupted him.

He was in a stream of words you didn't listen to.

Hisoka paused for a moment before he responds.

"I'm not gonna go to a weak party you throw at your place." he states in a mixture of irritation and amusement.

"That's not what-" you start, turning around to show him your flabbergasted expression but he's already walking away.

"Don't try to convince me!" is the only thing he adds, leaving you behind confused and dumbfounded.

At least you won't have to see him until next monday since it's your day off tomorrow and his day off on saturday.

The rest of your day at work passes by without Hisoka approaching you.

Normally you'd be glad about it but today you had hoped he'd return to you, not that you enjoy him bothering you.

You just simply wanted to explain that you were not wanting to invite him to a party you never even mentioned to want to throw, you simply wanted to ask him for his plans nothing more and nothing less.

Hisoka is already gone when you walk to your car to get in and drive home so you have no chance of stopping him and explain your intentions.

For now, all you can do is hope he won't make a big deal about the situation.

Which is a slim chance regarding Hisoka, you hope for the best nonetheless.

When you drive home, there is no costumed stranger walking along the forest at the side of the street and your house looks untouched aside from your open bedroom window.

It's the first thing you notice as you pull up the driveway, upon a closer look you can see Chrollo standing at the open window.

He waves at you with a smile and you wave back, even though he might no be able to see it at the angel he looks down on you in your car.

You get out the car and open the front door.

Chrollo is already waiting for you as the door swings open and doesn't hesitate to pull you into a hug once you step inside.

The door falls close on its own behind you, it would've been impossible for you to close it yourself anyway with how tight Chrollo has his arms wrapped around you.

You can't surpress a giggle as he presses a kiss on the top of your head, it's warm and sweet and the feeling of the kiss lingers until he let's go of you just to press another kiss onto the corner of your mouth.

It's not a direct kiss but you know it's supposed to he one and it leaves the same weightless feeling in your body as the kiss you two shared yesterday.

"How was work?" he asks, a dreamy smile on his face as he grabs your hands with his own.

His are cold.
