Hisoka is as annoying as ever.

he comes and goes to tell you something like he always does, you just deal with it.

you don't even act like you listen to him anymore but he doesn't seem to notice.

and if he does, he simply doesn't care.

the only thing saving you is working at the cash register.

it makes it harder for him to slip into what you're currently doing and bombard you with words that don't seem to make sense most of the time.

you wish back on the Hisoka that was so intellectually and smart back when he visited you when you were sick.

he still talked a lot but at least it made sense.

shortly before your break two kids come in and they greet Hisoka which surprises you.

the raven haired boy does so happily while the silver haired boy is a bit more reluctant and seems to just follow suit to his friend.

they grab a few sweets until they come up to you at the cash register.

"you're new!" the boy who greeted Hisoka first say's and you nod.

"yes I am" you say with a smile and the boys face turns into a big grin.

"It's nice to meet you. I'm Gon and this is my friend Killua!" he points to the other boy who is holding a skateboard.

he smiles as well.

"It's nice to meet you two as well, I'm (y/n)" you introduce yourself.

"where do you live?" Killua ask's and his head tilt's to the side as he does so, obviously curious.

you tell them where you live, opting for telling them to location rather than the adress.

"Leorio say's the house is so old, there must be ghosts living in it. Is that true?" Gon's eyes widen so much that you fear they'll fall out any second.

he seems so innocent and sweet that you can't help but smile.

"well, if there is, then he's good at hiding." you respond and Gon laughs a little before he and his friend, Killua, say goodbye and leave.

You take your break and when you get back Hisoka is gone.

You forgot his shift ended early today since he worked a six-day week last week.

It's a strange feeling to not have him around but it's also freeing.

It's only your boss and you in the store and you can't help but feel more relaxed like that.

The store stays rather quiet after your break so you help out here and there in the store while keeping an eye on the cash register and some potential customers waiting there to pay.

You go grocery shopping after work before you head home, it took longer than expected and Chrollo let's you know this as well.

He doesn't greet you with an 'Hello' or something of that sort, instead he welcoms you with a question.

"Where have you been this long?" He ask's, he sounds almost a little panicked but definitely worried.

You raise your arm to show him one of the grocery bags you're carrying.

You're a little confused by his worry, touched as well though, so your answer of "I went to buy groceries." comes out a little more flat than anticipated.

"Couldn't you have told me beforehand? I was worried sick! These times around there are a lot of strange people wandering around, checking to see who might be packing bag's to leave during the holiday!" Chrollo responds and his eyebrows furrow, making a mix of worry and anger present on his face.

But you know the anger he's portraying isn't directed at you, at least not entirely and the anger towards you is more of concern than fury, it's directed at the people he worries about being a potential danger.

It makes you wonder if Chrollo was killed during a holiday that made him so cautious about those days.

But you don't want to ask.

You don't want to remind him of his death even more than he already gets reminded of when he loses his strength, when things glide through him and when you have to leave him all alone for work.

You can't even imagine how much he must be suffering.

Without thinking you drop the grocery bag onto the floor, not caring for what's inside it, and wrap your arms around Chrollo.

You hug the ghost haunting your house, you hug someone you cherish.

Chrollo is obviously taken aback because he doesn't hug you back and you can hear his heart beat violently against his chest as your face is pressed against it.

"What?" he asks softly, no emotion evident in his voice other than pure curiosity.

You want to scream how terribly sorry you are for him, you want to apologize to him on the behalf of the people who hurt him, who killed him, but you don't think you're in the position to do so.

"Thank you, for worrying about me.." is what you choose to say instead.

Chrollo chuckles lighty and you can feel his arms raise before one closes the hug behind you back while the other gently cups the side of your head.

He rests his head on yours and when he speaks you can feel the vibration his voice causes in his throat.

"How could I not.." he says and your heart melts.

His next words almost make your knees buckle and your legs turn into jelly.

"You are the most important thing to me."

And then everything happens so fast and so slow at the same time that it completely messes up your head.

Chrollo gently pushes you away from him, half an arm lenght, before his hands find their way to your cheeks.

He cups them, his hands feel warm and inviting as you melt into his touch because you just have to.

You don't notice that he's holding you in place because his hands around the soft flesh of your face are treating you like you're fragile, as if you could break when he holds you too tight.

And when he looks into your eyes, his face coming closer and closer, you realize that he's giving you the opportunity to back away.

But you don't and so his lips land on yours.
