You walk upstairs to find and as Chrollo.
you're guessing he's still in your room since you didn't see him downstairs on your way up or while you were still on call with your parents.
you open the door to your bedroom and find Chrollo sitting at the closed window, already looking at you as you peek inside.
he must've heard you come up.
the house isn't exactly quiet when someone walks around in it since it's so old and could really use a renovation for the problem.
Chrollo smiles at you.
"Could you check something for me?" you ask and he nods immediately, gets up from the windowsill and meets you at the door.
from there on you walk downstairs, through the small open hallway and living room before entering the conservatory.
"I don't know if I see it right, but do you see the small hill at the back there?" you ask.
"I see it too.." Chrollo says after you point to it.
"what do you think it is?" he asks, not taking his eyes off the spot you point at.
you shrug.
"I don't know..but it's really weird.." you say in full honesty.
Chrollo turns his head towards you.
"weird?" he questions but all you can do is shrug again.
you don't know why the hill seems..odd, out of place, like there's something wrong with it, but it does.
"hmm.." Chrollo hums, diverting his gaze back to the earthy spot among all the green.
"it's was probably just a mole." he finally says but that just doesn't sound plausible to you.
the garden at your childhood home had mole's sometimes, which always frustrated your parents, and so you know that moles don't just make one of those hills but several not too far apart.
you frown at Chrollo's explanation, unsatisfied with it even though it was the first thing you thought of as well.
he notices.
of course he does.
he never seems to miss anything.
"what's wrong?" his head is tilted to the side as he asks, observing you.
"It's just.." you don't know how to phrase it "..I know how mole hills look like.."
you pinch your lips together.
"and this" you point at the hill again "isn't one."
Chrollo keeps his eyes on you as he responds, his lips curling into a soft smile.
"you're overthinking it" he say's and a moment later you feel his hand on your shoulder.
"why don't you rest for today, hm?" he squeezes lightly and there is pressure in the guesture that tells you to just follow his instruction.
so you nod.
"yeah.." you agree and the smile on Chrollos face widens, making his eyes smaller.
you turn around and go upstairs, he doesn't follow right away.
at the top floor you go through your bedroom straight to the bathroom attached to it.
you wash your face with cold water, your mind feels foggy.
maybe you really are just overthinking it, Chrollo must be right.
he always is.
you go back into your bedroom to grab a pair of sleeping attire to get changed in the bathroom.
after getting changed you grab your phone that you had laid on the sink and text your great uncles sister, asking her if Friday works for her.
you finish your routine before entering your bedroom once more.
Chrollo is already waiting for you and he smiles softly as you enter.
for some reason it had gotten normal that you two share your bed and for some other reason you don't mind it.
you plug your phone in and lay down.
"Goodnight." you say after putting the blanket over yourself and getting comfortable.
Chrollo returns your words and you're out like a light.
The next morning your alarm wakes you up and, still half asleep, you just shove Chrollo's arm off of you.
he slightly groans as you do so but his eyes stay closed.
the sight of him seemingly asleep and unsatisfied with you getting out of bed is so cute that you have to supress a laugh.
as quiet as possible you gather what you're going to wear today and get changed, this time you don't bother going to the bathroom to do so but just do it quickly.
you grab your phone before going downstairs, watching where you step to not wake Chrollo up.
you check your messages as you eat breakfast.
"friday works for me, how about the late afternoon?" it's an answer from your great uncle's sister.
you text her back immediately, agreeing.
she was so warm and welcoming at the funeral that you truly cannot wait to see her again even though the ride there is quiet a bit.
you grab everything you need before heading out the door, getting in your car and driving out the driveway.
music is playing as you drive through the tall trees and you think you're getting used to living here.
the forest doesn't scare you that much anymore, it only ever creeps you out at night when it's so dark that you couldn't see your own hand in front of your face if you were to turn off all the lights.
you're not far away from your house when someone passes you.
it's a person, a man.
a very tall muscular man.
"a hitchhiker?" you think aloud and your eyebrows furrow.
at this hour?
it's still morning and the sun hasn't come up completely yet.
it's also fall and quiet cold outside and this man is only wearing a white muscle shirt, furry shorts and furry boots for all that you can tell from the distance that's separating him from your car driving by.
for a moment you think about turning around, to asl him if he's okay because he must be freezing in this cold.
but he looks...shady.
and if he is you really couldn't tale him on with the way he's build.
sure, you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover but you're rather safe than sorry.
and he's staring at you.
his eyes were locked on you the moment you spotted him and even now after you passed him with your car he's watching you.
you know because you're looking at him from your rear view mirror and his head is turned your way, twisting his upper body as well.
you shudder, hoping that you locked your doors and windows.
