You pull open the balcony doors and step outside to see your lover sitting by the railing, looking over the wide street. He doesn't turn to look at you; his eyes are still nailed to the people moving below. With two more steps, you stand behind his broad back, your hand finding his shoulders. You don't say anything as you look down into the street; you gently stroke downward, starting from his neck and ending with his upper arms. Your caressing gets firmer until your fingers start digging into his muscles. You hear him let out a deep sigh as you detangle some of the stress from his shoulders.
As the tension starts to be relieved, you glide your hands over his shoulders onto his chest and lean your head next to his.
"You think too much. It's unhealthy," you say quietly by his ear before pulling back a bit and placing a kiss behind it on the short hair.
"Someone has to do it. Carry the weight of it; think about the future and how to save it." His voice sounds somber.
"You don't have to carry it alone." You place more kisses on his skin, slowly moving down his neck. "I'm here to help you. I promised I would help you. You don't have to fight your fights alone, Sprout. I will battle out half of them myself if only you let me."
"You would?" His voice is level, emotionless.
"Do you ever listen to me at all?" You laugh as you nuzzle his cheek with your nose and place a kiss on it. "I've told you a hundred times, we're a team. Let me lighten your burden, let me protect you, let me fight alongside you. We will get to your brother; we will save him from his delusions; we will make him see the error in his ways."
You hug him, and his arms touch yours. It makes your skin tingle, the sensation moving up into your shoulders and into your chest.
"I appreciate it. I wouldn't be able to do it without you." His voice is still calm as his head turns towards you.
You smile brightly at him, releasing just a little bit to place a kiss on his lips.

His arms are tightly wrapped around your body, pulling your back into him. You feel the curvature of his body against yours, the familiar dips and valleys of his muscles. His hand creeps over your body to your throat and squeezes at the same time as his sharp teeth track over the side of your neck. You breathe heavy and deep through the crushing of your windpipe.
Your hand reaches back to grab at his hip, the other pulling on his hair as he bites the muscle on your shoulder. You feel the stiffness in his hands and movements.
"You're holding back," you say with your head leaned back. "Why?"
"So I don't hurt you," the muffled voice says against your skin.
"Don't worry about that. I can take a little pain, and I promise I won't cry... I'll only hurt you back," you chuckle darkly. Your fingers feel like they want to yank his hair and dig your nails into his skin. The feelings coursing through you are anything but gentle.
"You're playing with fire," his voice continues by your ear, with a sharp edge to it.
"I am fire." You try looking at him from the corner of your eye. "Don't hold back, baby."
Both hands suddenly turn rougher as they turn you around. His lips land on yours and part them. One hand grabs your ass, the other entangles in your hair. He takes steps forward, forcing you backwards until you find yourself against a wall. He pulls on your hair to move his kisses onto your neck again. They burn on your skin like embers. The other hand moves up your side, exploring your curves. The fingers grabbing onto your flesh leave bruises, and your scalp hurts from the pull. His lips reach your chest quickly while you still try to grab hold of him. He pulls back, a wild look in his blue eyes as he releases you, only to rip apart your shirt, bearing your skin.
