MARY helped Dustin and Lucas carry in the kiddie pool that Joyce brought from Johnathan's car. It was surprisingly heavy as the three of them loaded out of the pool and made their way towards the gymnasium.
"Uhh, is there a way to use your powers to carry this thing?" Lucas struggles on his side.
"I don't really like using my powers for no reason," Mary admits.
Which was true. Even after she escaped the lab, she didn't feel the need or desire to use her abilities. She was also scared that if she were to use her powers then she'll somehow get exposed. So she stop using them all together. There were certain times that she would use them here and there, but for the most part, she hasn't used her powers. Which is why she has become so rusty after truly using them after all these years.
"Well that's just great," Dustin mutters sarcastically.
Mary glanced over at Dustin at his comment but he didn't look at her. That was probably the first direct response he had said to her this past hour.
They reached the gym before collapsing the rolled-up kiddie pool on the ground. Dustin was the one to roll it out as the deflated pool rested.
"This damn thing is heavy," he pants tiredly.
Lucas and Dustin immediately start to untie the string tying the pool together. Mary stretched the deflated pool out as the boys helped pull it out.
"Pull it back," Lucas informs Dustin.
"I am!" Dustin argues. "Son of a bitch this pool is god damn annoying!"
Mary sighed and went to help aid him on his side but he scooted her away. "I got it!"
"I'm just trying to help," she defends not used to his attitude.
He doesn't reply. His main attention was setting up the pool. Mary finally had enough of his passive-aggressive behavior towards her. She did not like this side of him and honestly, she had no clue as to why he seemed so hostile.
