It was a...rather boring day at Beacon Academy, all things considered. All the excitement of the beginning of the semester (even if Nora was disappointed that they didn't really get to do much by the end) & that debacle with Dr. Merlot had faded. Anticipation for the Vytal Festival was high, the wait was a bit...tedious for some. Especially on the weekends, where they didn't really have much to do.

For one Team of Huntresses in particular, they were currently busy lounging around discussing what their strategy would be.

"Sooooo, if we make it to the singles round, who are we thinking?" Ruby Rose asked her team. As the youngest person ever accepted into Beacon, & by default youngest team leader, Ruby knew that she had much to prove.

"Uh, me, duh." Her older sister, Yang Xiao Long piped up. "I mean...obviously". The blonde brawler boasted.

"Yeah, obviously." Yang's partner, Blake Belladonna piped up, not taking her eyes off her book. "I mean, it's not like the rest of us can do much, right"?

"Blaaaake." Yang teasefully complained. Blake smirked in response. The two had come to understand each other rather well since the Dance, so Yang knew it was a good-natured rib.

"As much as I hate to admit it," Ruby's partner Weiss Schnee added, "She does have a point. In terms of raw power, Yang does have the rest of us beat".

"Aww, thanks, Weissy," Yang said. "You really can be nice!"

"...Better than Ice Queen.'' Weiss muttered. "And yes, was that ever in doubt?"

"Nope! Nice Weiss strikes again!" Ruby shouted up in support of her bestie while Yang gave a noncommittal shrug & Blake responded with "Kinda".

"Yes, well...in any case, I think we should focus more on the doubles round right now." Weiss replied, both a bit frustrated, & not that she'd admit it, a little amused as well. Team RWBY had its bumps along the way & undoubtedly would have more in the future, but they'd settled into their lives & routines.

"Who're you thinking?" Ruby asked.

"Well, I think it should be Yang and I. No offence to either you or Blake, but I feel like our skillsets may be better suited for the tougher opponents we might face".

"Nah I getcha, I'm still pretty garbage without my scythe." Ruby responded while Blake muttered out "none taken" as she was focusing on her book, a collection of legends about the First Kingdom.

"Alright then, strategy achieved!" Ruby declared. "Now then, we need to discuss lu-"

"Does anyone hear that?" Blake asked. Having two sets of ears (even if one set was currently hidden behind a bow) gave her a better sense of hearing than her human teammates.

"Uh...no. Are you-wait, yeah, what is that?" Yang answered.

"Uh, guys...." Ruby pointed to the door. Sparks were beginning to flare as Zwei, the unofficial Team Pet, yelped & jumped onto one of the beds. The sparks began to coalesce as a sort of energy field was appearing the middle of them. There was a bright flash of light, and when it subsided, a glowing disk sat on the door handle.

"What the-"

"Is that a-"

"What just happened?"

"Guys, calm down!" Ruby ordered. Looking at the disk closer up, she noticed what seemed like a price tag, which read: "Communicube for Team RWBY".

"Huh" Ruby said as she reached out to grab the thing

"Wait, Ruby, don-" Weiss was interrupted when Ruby touched it and another flash of light burst from it, and from it emanated multiple holographic images of Ruby's Emblem, all arranged, Weiss noted, in the shape of a cube.
