Vol. 3, When It Falls

"'So. The darker ones tend to have dark intros.'" The note explained. "'When It Falls is...well, appropriate. For this one.'" The note seemed nervous. "'It's uh...kind of like what the villains want like Die, in fact there's some quotes near the end there. A dark prediction/proclamation of/for the future. One you'll understand by the end, I think. But keep in mind that this is what they WANT you to feel. And...I'm sorry.'"

"Let's just get this over with." Weiss suggested. And so, Ruby did.

[Song Start]

[Swallowed by the darkness
Soon the moon is bathed in black]

"Off to a cheerful start." Blake deadpanned.

"And this is the INTRO song..." Glynda muttered.

[The light of hope is taken
And discontent is the contagion]

"Well, you can TRY, but I think we burn pre-tty bright." Yang countered.

"I hope so..." Ozpin whispered at his lowest register. Hopefully it was low enough. But, why was he taking the risk? Questions for later.

[The blinding eyes
That burn a yellow flame]

"Okay yeah that-that's just Cinder, right?" Jaune asker. "I mean, in the intro."

"It's what "they" want..." Blake added. "Perhaps specifically what CINDER wants. And so perhaps we can...take this as something of a character song."

"We'll have to see." Pyrrha agreed.

[The embers that remain
Will light the fuse of condemnation]

"Definitely better to think of this as what Cinder and her minions want." Weiss offered. "And it means..."

"...Maybe when she's done, it'll just set things up for next time?" Nora theorized.

"However that may look..." Ren muttered.

[Kingdoms in tatters
Hung on the brink of a war]

"But...we're not. Er, THEY'RE not." Ruby pointed out. "Unless...that's what she wants?"

"It would take an incredible amount of work to make it happen." Weiss added.

"Maybe not as much as you might think..." Blake muttered. The peace seemed...fragile, from her perspective.

And from Ozpin's. They were getting close. Still, he knew none of them had any reason to suspect her existence, so he hoped he could manage it.

"I believe the Breach was sufficient proof of that." Ren added.

[The peace will succumb
To
Flaaaaaaaames...]

"Yeah, totally Cinder taking." Nora agreed.

"That's MY thing, get your own..." Yang darkly declared.

"Are we...really so close that she thinks this is something she can accomplish?" Pyrrha asked.

Yes, a part of Glynda wanted to say, yes it is. But the other part Wes just going to follow Ozpin's lead on this one. He hasn't led her astray yet, now had he?

"Get rid of the lyrics and it actually sounds kinda neat. Again." Jaune replied. "But..."

[*Rock Interlude*]

"Okay, so...the intro. The rest of the song. We...we need to talk about this." Ruby said once it became clear this was the interlude part. "This is..."

"It's what the villains want, right?" Jaune asked.
