"'Sacrifice is probably my favorite song in the entire series, and there's some steep competition, believe me.'" The note read. "'Perhaps part of that is that for the longest time, & still to this day really, we don't know who or what it's about. Jeff & Casey never explained that one. The going theory is that it's either from the perspective of and/or about Cinder Fall, but there ARE other parallels to be drawn. Perhaps it's also from the perspective of and/or about Raven Branwen, or someone Oz knew when he was younger. If the song is even addressed to Oz at all, that is. We just don't know. There are so many interpretations. It may very well be a "general themes" song for all we know. So, enjoy trying to figure it out for yourselves!"
[*Calm Melody*]
This was going to be an interesting one. If it was so up to interpretation, then they were gonna need to focus even more. Cinder, Raven, Ozpin, "someone else", or maybe just the themes. Blake knew that this would be a turning point in some way, & even if they didn't understand it now, they very well could in the future.
She could also see Ozpin flinching (while Glynda looked...resigned?), & more importantly YANG flinching. The mention of her biological mother & the prospect of this possibly being related to her clear got to her. Blake held one of Yang's hands while Ruby held the other, & Weiss put a hand on her shoulder.
This was going to be an intense song to analyze.
[Close your eyes now
Time for dreams]"Hey, it's not that late." And Nora immediately began it with a joke.
"It kinda looks like it is." Jaune replied, looking out the window.
"There should still be enough time for Volume 3." Ozpin assured them. But did he...WANT that? How far was this going to go?
"It'll be more clear with the next verse, hopefully." Weiss declared.
[Death is never
What it seems]"...So, do we take that literally, or...?" Nora asked.
"Maybe it's...I have no idea." Blake admitted.
"Maybe someone thought Cinder was dead or something?" Ruby weakly offered.
"Or maybe my mom's still..." Yang muttered. She truthfully didn't know whether Raven was still alive, but she always believed so. Perhaps, if this was about her...
Ozpin had some idea as to how literal it could be. Certainly, when it came to him and...her, it wasn't. Still, he knew that Ms. Belladonna was spying on him, & now more than ever he had to stay composed. They shouldn't have all this put on their shoulders. How much longer can you put that off?
[Did the things you
Thought you should]"So like...does Cinder think she's doing the right thing then?" Ruby asked.
"We don't even know what she hopes to gain from this, so...maybe?" Weiss tentatively agreed.
"Assuming it's about Cinder at all." Ren reminded them.
"It feels kinda..." Jaune began.
[All the things they
Said were
Good....]"...like a callback to the opening." Pyrrha finished.
