The end of the long night, finally 😓. I hate writing battle scenes, and have a hard time describing them. I hope you guys like it anyways 🥰

Robb was not sure what happened, one moment they were all alone and then the dead were swarming them. Robb stood in front of Bran, making sure that none of the dead were able to get to him. While he was fighting he was impressed by how calm Bran was, his brother barely moved and did not seem at all bothered that he was in the middle of a battle. Another one of those creatures ran towards him, and Robb swung ice, cutting the creature in half. Then Jon was there, Robb had never been happier to see his brother in his life.

There was a loud roar and something crashed against one of the Godswood walls, sending brick and debris flying through the air. Robb covered Bran with his body, making sure he was not hit before turning around towards the noise. A giant stepped over the debris and Robb swallowed, knowing that the thing would kill most of them before he was taken down. The giant was almost on top of them when Jon's dragon appeared. The dragon's jaw clamped around the giant tearing it apart. The men cheered, but their happiness did not last long as they all felt the temperature drop. There was an eerie feeling in the air and then they all saw him. Robb knew the thing walking calmly towards them was the night king without anyone saying anything. Several white walkers surrounded their king and Robb knew this would not be an easy fight.

The night king looked at Robb before his eyes moved past him towards Bran. Robb did not miss the hate in the man's eyes as he looked at his brother. Robb was not sure what the issue was between the two was, but what the night king wanted the most was to kill his little brother. The thing gave them a smile before lifting his hands. Robb saw Jon tense and knew whatever the man was doing would not be good for them. A few seconds went by and nothing happened. The night king looked around him and disbelief and Jon gave Robb a confused look. Robb was not sure what was supposed to happen, but whatever it was had not worked for some reason.

"There must always be a Stark in Winterfell." Bran's voice drew everyone to look at him, even the night king, as he repeated their father's words. "You were a Stark before the children of the forest made you to be their weapon. The same magic you have run through our veins, so your powers do not work here, not as long as there is a Stark alive within these walls."

The night king was still for a few moments, and then his eyes glowed as the wind picked up speed. The man's fury was palpable as the snow fell heavily. Robb moved to stand in front of Bran, not wanting the night king to even look at his brother. The thing turned his fury towards him, his blue eyes shining brightly. There was a growl and Grey Wind appeared, his wolf moved to stand beside him, and Ghost moved to stand beside Jon. The two brothers stood side by side, protecting Bran.

He was not sure what happened, one moment the night king was focused on them and the next he swirled around and was holding Arya by the neck, his sister's feet were not touching the ground. Robb moved, but a white walker appeared before he could reach the night king and his sister. He swung Ice, taking off the walker's head as he continued to try and get to his sister, but the dead just kept coming. Robb was fighting a white walker when another appeared, swinging a spear toward him, but Grey Wind was there, taking the walker down before the spear could make contact. Robb ran fast, trying to save his sister only for the night king to throw Arya aside before he could get there. His sister's body hit the tree trunk hard and she did not move again.

Fury consumed him and he swung ice again, wanting to kill the thing that had hurt his sister. His sword was blocked by the night king's sword, the man giving him a vile smile. The night king moved pushing Robb back and swinging his sword towards him. Robb pivoted, the night king's sword missing him by a few inches as he thrust Ice into the man's belly and pushed him back. The night king's eyes shone brighter and then Jon was there and he slammed Longclaw into the night king's chest, his sword pinning the man to the heart tree.

Everything went still as the night king looked at the sword sticking out of his chest before looking towards them and then he shattered. The dead who had been fighting the soldiers, all dropped as one as everyone looked around. Robb ran to Aryan, a relieved sigh leaving his mouth when he realized she was alive. He knew that not everyone had been as lucky. They had won, but they had lost thousands of people. Now they would all have to rebuild and then there was the dragon queen to deal with.

Sansa heard the banging of the doors as one of the maids hurried to open them. She was happy when she saw Robb and Jon standing side by side, both of them alive, but then gasped when she noticed the form in Robb's arms. She ran to her brother and looked over her sister, relieved when she noticed her breathing.

"Lay her here." She pointed towards one of the cots which had been brought into the great hall for the wounded. Once Arya was lying down she ran her hands over her sister's arms, legs, and torso, wanting to make sure she had not broken anything. She continued to check Arya as she gave Robb a quick look. "What happened?"

"The night king." Robb sat down and Sansa could see how tired her brother looked. Jon also looked exhausted. "He threw her against a tree and she hit her head."

Sansa moved Arya's head to the side and noticed that some of her hair was matted with blood, but the bleeding appeared to have stopped. Arya's breathing appeared to be steady and while she was a bit pale she did not appear to be badly hurt. Sansa stood up and looked at her brother.

"It appears she was just knocked unconscious, but I will have the maester check her anyways." She looked towards the door where people had already started arriving with the injured. "I will need one of you to have two men standing by the doors. We will have a lot of injured people and need to make sure we are organized."

"Of course," Robb stood up. "What do you want the men to do?"

"Any person who is not badly injured and able to walk will have to stand in the hall. I will send a few of the women to check them in a bit. The ones who are more badly injured can be sent in. I will also need some men to bring out more cots and if someone has any healing and sowing experience, we will need them also. We are going to need all the help we can get to tend to the wounded."

"I will send as many men as I can spare." Robb ran a hand through his hair as he looked around him. "We will also need to start coordinating the men so we can get the dead."

"What are we going to do with so many?" Jon looked a bit overwhelmed. "There is no way we can bury them all."

"And we will not," Robb said sadly. "Anyone belonging to a major house will be returned to their families so they can be buried according to their customs. All the other ones will be burned as soon as possible."

"That sounds fine." Sansa saw Jon frown as he looked around, before turning to look at her. "Where is Daenerys?"

"I do not know." Sansa was a bit confused as to why he believed the woman would be there. "Last I knew she was fighting with all of you."

"She was, but then we got separated." Jon's eyes filled with fear. "One of the Vale knights was supposed to bring her back here."

"Do not worry, Jon." Robb put a hand on his brother's shoulder. "We will look for her and make sure she is well."

Sansa did not say anything, but she was hoping the woman was dead. If they found Daenerys alive things would not end well for them.
