Tywin finally makes a decision about Jon. I hope you guys like it 🥰
3 days later
Serena smiled and hugged Jaime, happy that he was back. Even while Tywin did not show it she had seen how worried he was. His face had relaxed the moment he received the letter from Jaime letting him know that the war had been won and he was doing well. Things had been a bit strange since Serena had told her husband about Jon, she was hoping she had not made a mistake in telling him. They had barely spoken in the past three days and Serena hated it, she did not like being at odds with her husband.
"How have you been?" Jaime gave her a small smile. "I can tell you are sad about something."
"It is nothing." She did not want to be the one to tell him about Jon, she was hoping that Tywin would come to a decision soon. "Just some things between your father and I."
"Is this about Jon?" Serena gave him a surprise look. "I know about it, my father told me last night."
"Great, I was hoping he would keep it to himself for a bit longer." She was sure he would have kept it secret. "I cannot believe he told you."
"He had some questions, he wanted to know what I remembered about Rhaegar, especially during the time right before the war started." Jaime let out a sigh. "Rhaegar was a better man than his father, but he still had a lot of flaws. Fortunately for you and the rest of us, Jon only inherited Rhaegar's best characteristics. The fact that he is also a Stark tipped the scales in his favor. He will be a great king."
"What are the chances that your father is going to allow that to happen?"
"You have not given yourself enough credit." Serena frowned, but Jaime just smiled. "You have not noticed how much you have changed my father, but everybody else has. He is a different man because of you, he actually listens to people's opinions and he is warm, well warmer than he was before. I have seen him with your children and he acts like the father I always wanted."
"Yes, but that is much different than him agreeing to give up the throne." She knew that Tywin was a different man than the one she married, but he was not that much different than he would just agree to give up the throne. "Your father fought too hard to get his blood on the throne. There is no way he would just allow my brother to take over."
"You might be surprised. Myrcella will be queen in the north and if my father is so insistent on his blood being on the throne then you can betroth one of your children to the future king."
Even with all of that Serena was not sure Tywin would just release his grip on the throne. She wanted to make sure her husband would not try and kill her brother.

"Grandsire." Tommen entered his solar and sat down across from him. "I was told you wished to speak to me."
"Yes," Tywin was hoping Tommen would tell him what he wanted to hear. "There have been some developments that we need to speak about. But the first thing I need to know is if you wish to be king."
"Why?" Tommen frowned.
"Because you show no interest in your duties." Tywin did not want to be harsh, but the fact that his three oldest children and his eldest grandson had been massive disappointments, he was hoping that Tommen would be different, but so far he had done nothing to prove him wrong. "You do not want to go to your lessons, you do not want to hear petitions, and when I try to speak to you about the kingdom you do not even want to listen to me. Now, I need you to answer me honestly. Do you wish to be king?"
"Does it matter?" For the first time, Tommen looked at him straight in the eyes. "There is no one else, I will have to be king no matter what my wishes are."
"That is not what I asked." Tywin made sure his voice was a bit more gentle this time around. "Do you wish to be king?"
"No, I have never wanted to throne." Tommen let out a sigh and his shoulders seemed to relax immediately, like he had been carrying a great weight for a long time. "I want to be a knight and go on adventures. I hate that I am being kept here by duty and obligations. I am not stupid, I know I do not have what is needed to be a good king."
"Tommen, there might be someone else." It hurt Tywin to admit it, but he was not going to spend the rest of his life taking care of something that was not his. He wanted to return home. He wanted his children to grow up in Casterly Rock. He wanted to spend time with his wife and not put so much stress on her. Serena was with child again and he wanted to be more present, he did not want to be an absent father once more. "There is someone else who can be king. If you truly wish to be away from all of this then I will make sure is done."
"Truly?" Tommen's eyes were wide, but Tywin had never seen him look so happy and hopeful. "Are you sure?"
"Yes, I will make sure to send him a raven and ask him to travel south to meet with you." His grandson nodded his head. "I have made many mistakes and hurt the people I loved, but I do not wish to force you to do something you do not want to do, or for you to spend the rest of your life being miserable."
Tywin had seen what forcing his family to do things they did not want to had done in the past. Cersei was still a prisoner and had lost her mind, Jaime was finding more and more reasons not to spend time in Kings Landing and his grandchildren were quiet and introverted. Tywin was happy for the first time in his life and he did not want his family to be miserable.
