Sorry guys, work was brutal and I was called in to work two of the days I was supposed to be off and didn't have time to write.

Jon and Sansa talk and she gives him some info about his family. Serena finally comes clean with Tywin. I hope you guys like it 🥰

3 weeks later

Jon had not expected it would hurt so much to find his aunt had died. He barely knew the woman, but the idea of having another family member, of someone from his father's side being there with him had made him feel better about things. Even when she had not known that they were family he had wanted to believe she was good. He had heard horrible things about the Targaryens and everything they had done, but Daenerys had been different. He heard about all the people she had saved, the slaves who loved her. She had done so many good things and he had wanted to believe that she was not affected by the Targaryens' madness. He wanted to believe her goodness had won because that meant that he would not become the monster his predecessors had been.

"You have been sitting here every day for hours." Sansa sat beside him and looked at the fire. "I am sorry about Daenerys."

"I know you did not like her."

"That is true, I never did like her." Jon looked at Sansa, hurt that she would not even pretend to make him feel better. "But I am sorry because I know what she meant to you. I know how important her being good was to you."

"Every time I find something new about my family, all it tells me is how horrible they were." He shook his head. "How am I supposed to fight against that kind of legacy?"

"Not everyone in your family was so awful." Jon gave her a questioning look, not knowing what she was referring to. "King Jaehaerys I was known as the the Conciliator and the Wise. He and his wife were beloved by the people. He was king for fifty-five years and he was the one who created the first unified code of law, which codified, organized, and reformed all the laws of the kingdom. Jaehaerys also made several developments in Kings Landing, constructed drains, sewers, sinking wells and fountains, to carry the waste from the city and to provide clean drinking water for the smallfolk."

Jon could do nothing but stare at her in bewilderment. "How do you know all of this?"

"I enjoy reading." She gave him an amused look. "And unlike you, I enjoyed my lessons."

"Did they teach you a lot about Jaehaerys?"

"No, but I was in Kings Landing for many years." He knew her years in the capital had not been pleasant. "I spent a lot of time reading."

"So Jaehaerys was not awful?"

"No, he was not." She turned to face him fully. "He also listened to his wife, she was the one who convinced her husband to put an end to the right to the first night. She was also the one who convinced her husband to grant the new gift to the Night's Watch."

"They sound like good people."

"Yes, they were." Sansa ran a hand over his curls. "From what I have heard their sons, Prince Aemon and Prince Baelon were also good men. They just did not have a chance to be kings."

"Why are you telling me this?"

"Because I can see how worried you are about what you will become one day." He liked that she looked so reassuring. "You are not just a Targaryen, Jon, you are also a Stark. You were raised by one of the most honorable men I have ever known. You are more than just your name Jon, you will be a great king."
