I was discharged from the hospital a few days later I was thankful to be out of there but at the same time nervous because I had nowhere to go. They gave me my purse that was supposedly on me at the time of the accident. Once I got outside I opened it up and looked through it I found a white card which gave me my bank details.
Apparently I was with the American Heritage Bank. I put it back into the little slot and continued rummaging through the rest of my purse I found $50 and if I was right then this is like equivalent to $100 in 2015. Maybe I was rich? Apart from the money and my bank card I had nothing else except a driving license.
My name was on it so how did the hospital not know who I was? Obviously they didn't look hard enough.
I started walking along the foot path littered with old gum that people had thrown away and a few other questionable marks. The streets were somewhat quiet only a few people walking around it but it was a Tuesday so most people would either be at school or work I suppose.
The sun was shining down on my hair and it was a moderately warm day for the end of March. There were only a few clouds in the sky but apart from that the sky was a bright blue.
Tulsa was not how I imagined it to be after all I have lived in San Francisco my entire life I knew nothing about it except for what I had seen in the outsiders. It was a lot flasher than I thought.
After a few more minutes of walking I saw the American Heritage bank that according the little white card in my purse was my bank.
I walked inside and it was an interesting interior with dark cream coloured walls and wood framing all the windows that were on the inside.
The tiles were a marble mix of different shades of brown. All furniture was made of wood or had wood accents it felt very rustic but not very 80's but all I knew of 80's interior was from the movies I had seen.
"Can I help you?" a feminine voice called.
I looked over to the dark brown wooden desk situated to the right of the room. A brunette woman who looked to be in her mid 40's by the slight winkles around her brown eyes and thin lips.
"Yes I was just wondering if I could inquire into my the amount that was into my account." She smiled and gestured to the seat. "Sure do you have your bank card with you?" by that I was assuming she meant the little white card that I had found earlier.
I opened my purse and pulled it out of its little black slot. I then closed my black leather purse and handed it over to her. "Thankyou." She murmured and then entered some details into a computer which looked ancient to me because I was used to laptops and flat screens but it was sort of interesting to see someone use one of these.
"Well Autumn it says here you have recently just inherited $200,000. So your balance no is $200,500." I sat there with my mouth agape how did I get $200,000?
"Do you happen to know where that money came from?" I ask quietly and slowly. She types something quickly into the computer and then shakes her head looking confused "no it just says here from an anonymous source. Would you happen to have any idea?" I shake my head and try to think but it was no use I came here from 2015 and even there I knew no one but my parents with that kind of money.
............
I left the bank startled at the news that I had $200,550 to my name. I realised that I needed to find somewhere to stay for a while I found a hotel nearby which seemed to be pretty popular there were cars everywhere in the parking lot.
I wondered into the hotel lobby it was really stylish. I walked slowly up to the front desk made of a light coloured wood. I was admiring the interior design of this place. However I wasn't watching where I was going and bumped into the person in front of me.
