Derek and I had stayed while Alex and his partner Eli questioned Thomas. During the questioning Alex had asked him if he would testify in court if Cassandra decided to press charges against Jack and without hesitation he agreed.
“What Jack did was absolutely disgusting and I can't believe I was ever friends with him. So hell yeah, I'll testify in court!” were his exact words.
When asked if he wanted to press charges against Jack himself he said that Cassandra was more important and that accidentally drugging himself was just his karma for trusting Jack to be a “decent human being”.
“Thank you for your time Mr. Aguilera, we'll be in touch.” Alex reached out, shaking Thomas’s hand when he stepped out the door. “Be sure to stay in town…”
“Yes, sir.” Thomas nodded, “Thanks for the finger brace.”
“You're welcome… I'm sorry about my daughter, she can be a bit… eccentric at times.”
I rolled my eyes as I frowned.
“I'm not eccentric…” I mumbled to myself but Derek heard me and started chuckling. When I glared at him they tried to cover it with a laugh but failed, which made me roll my eyes again.
“Let's go Wilder, see you later Tommy!” I two-finger salute Thomas, walking out of his house and to my Honda civic. Derek followed close behind. “See you at home Alex.”
I couldn't hear Alexander's response because Thomas yelled his farewells. Flailing his arm and everything like a dork.
“Thomas is pretty chill when he's not strung out on drugs!” Derek chuckled, filling the awkward silence that filled the car as I drove back home.
“Yeah…” I agreed, adjusting my grip on the wheel. I don't know why but since we entered my car, my palms have been sweaty and my face has felt a bit warm.
“You okay, red? you're, well, red.” He chuckled, adjusting himself in the seat. I told him he could move it so he could feel more comfortable but he said it was fine. I think he regrets saying that.
“I-I'm fine…” I sighed, rolling down my window to let some cool air in, “It's just hot in here that's all.”
He laughed at that as he grabbed my phone to play music, “If you say so… ”

“Alice, this is huge!!!” Cassandra shouted, rolling around her side of the bed in excitement while I sat next to her. “You almost had your first kiss ever!!! And with Derek Wilder, who totally has the hots for you!”
“He does not have the "hots" for me.” I rolled my eyes, regretting ever telling Cas about the almost kiss. If that's what we're calling it…
“Besides, who's to say that we really were about to kiss… maybe I just read the situation wrong?”
Derek and I still haven't talked about that day and it's been almost a week. Cassandra leaves for California the morning after tomorrow, so I'm staying the night at her house tonight, and then we'll spend the whole day together tomorrow.
