one day of the year - February 14, 2024 

It's the one day of the year when you are in my mind. The one day of the year when I am waiting outside your door. The one day of the year when I take you anywhere but home. Don't worry about where we're going. Don't worry about what time it is or what you have to do tomorrow. I want you to see me and join me in a never-ending night out in the city. A scenic drive out on the clear roads, blasting your favorite songs. Let me just take you on a night you won't forget. It's that one day of the year when I'll prove to you that I'm your forever person. Not like your exes who did what every other guy did on this day. I'll make it so that this one day of the year trumps those days. I won't take you to those jam-packed fancy dinners. I'm not the type to organize an orchestra to woo you. That isn't who I am. And I know that isn't what you love about me. And that's what I love about you. You see me for who I am. And so, you don't deserve just some thoughtless gesture on the most important day. It's the one day of the year when I get to show all of my devotion and love for you in the best way I can. Drive away from everyone else. Drive until we almost run out of gas. Stop in the park when everyone has gone away on their dates. Have a late-night picnic of fast foods we stopped to get. Have shopping sprees at Target and just enjoy our time together. Build a Lego flower set so I can give the bouquet. Pick out a daisy, tie it into a ring, and pretend that I'm proposing to you. Chug away at our favorite drinks to see who burps the loudest and longest. Do the things that no sane couple would do on the one day of the year. Some ask their significant others for flowers, balloons, and chocolates. Me? There are so many ways–both cute and weird–that I can never decide how to. That's why I do what I do best. Write to you. Write to ask if you would be my special person on this one day of the year. Yes, I love every day and more. But, today is just more reason to do even more. Go that extra mile. Outperform the average person. Be your tryhard. Anyone could write and say the things you want to hear. Yet, I am the only one who writes from my heart and soul. I'm the only one who truly will be there for you. Be there at your beck and call. Would show up at your door smeared in peanut butter if you needed me to. For everyone, they always try to be the perfect man for you. I'm weird around you. And I love that I'm that way whenever I'm with you. I'm not worried about if you would ever not love anymore because it's impossible. You know my weirdness. I know your weirdness. That's why we don't fit into the stereotype of this one day of the year. We're the outliers. We're the endgame. We're locked in. So, get in on this one day of the year and live life with me.
