Chapter 24

"If you'll meet your first love again, will you leave me?"

Nilingon ko si Rake. Nakaupo kami sa veranda habang nakatingin sa mga bituin.

"I don't think I have a first love." I truthfully answered.

Bumuntong-hininga siya. Bumaling ulit siya sa kalangitan.

The night is calm. Marahang umiihip ang malamig na hangin na dala ng gabi. The sky doesn't have a lot of stars but I can still see some. Tahimik at payapa ang gabing ito ngayon.

I smiled and held his hand then looked at him. Tinignan niya ang kamay ko bago tumingin sa akin. His face seemed brighter now. Umaliwas ang mukha niya pagkatapos ng nangyari ngayong gabi.

What happened tonight was memorable. I could say it was the most satsifying and peaceful dinner that I hadin my life.

Rake agreed to talk to his mother with the condition that I will be beside him. Iniwan kami ni Lola sa hapagkainan at nagsimulang magsalita si Mrs. Tagle.

She told us everything, from the time that she met his father to the time she met someone else. She said everything, the reason why she left, the reason why she only returned now.

And I was shocked hearing all of that. Sa totoo lang, hindi ko dapat marinig iyon. Hearing everything, I feel like it's too personal and I shouldn't know any of if. But I was relieved that my decision was right. I trusted Lola and Mrs. Tagle. Rake was able to know everything.

Though I think it would still be awkward for him but I can tell that somehow that talk with his mother helped him.

And now we're sitting in the veranda while Lola, Mrs. Tagle, and Tita are talking downstairs. Tita came after the dinner.

"But if ever that happens, which is impossible since I have none, I won't leave you. I will choose you. Always." I smiled.

He scoffed. "Siyempre pipiliin mo ako kasi wala kang first love."

"That's because you're my first love."

Napatingin siya sa akin, kunot ang noo na parang hindi naintindihan ang sinabi ko. Tumawa ako at bumaling sa harap.

"I won't say it again." I said while laughing.

Gosh! That came out cringy! What pick up line is that? I should stay away from Jansen and Baste. They're a bad influence.

"I heard it correctly, don't worry." I heard him.

Uminit ang pisngi ko. Hindi ko siya nilingon pero naramdaman ko ang paglapit niya. Lumunok ako at nanatili ang tingin sa langit.

He reached out for my face and slowly made me face him. Seryoso siya habang nakatitig sa akin.

I felt the butterflies in my stomach panic. They've never panicked this way before. I swear. Even my heart feels like bursting out.

"But I still want to hear it again." aniya sabay ngiti.

Pumikit ako at lumayo. "No. It's embarrassing."

Pulang-pula na siguro ang mukha ko. Nakakahiya. Kitang-kita niya 'yon! Sobrang liwanag sa mansion!

"So you won't leave me for your first love because I'm your first love? What does that mean, Michelle Ann?"

Umirap ako. Now he's teasing me.

"Stop it! It's embarrassing!"

Tumawa siya. I shrieked because of embarrassment then stood up. Hindi pa ako nakakaalis nang hilahin niya ako pabalik.
