The Letter

Tonys pov

Since Rose arrived I have been talking with Clint and Steve, with their help we had been working through the process of getting Rose pardoned. We had to attend meetings talking about what happened, Clint had to talk through the day of when Rose got taken. An envelope arrived with my name with a letter and anouther envelope.

'Dear Mr Stark

After reviewing the evidence provided by yourself, Mr Barton and Mr Rogers regarding Miss Rose Barton and her being taken at a young age against her will I'm writing to let you know that Miss Barton is officially pardoned of any wrong doings during this time, I have included an envelope for Miss Barton stating that she has been pardoned plus informing her that we are awarding her back pay for the time.

Leaving my office I head towards Rose's room where I know she is currently with Pepper, today is a day when Rose doesn't have the tutor so Pepper helps her. Walking into the room I find them both sat on the sofa with Rose reading.

'Hello ladies' I smile 'hi tony' Rose and Pepper replies 'everything okay?' Pepper asks me 'yeah, I've got a letter for Rose' I say passing her the envelope. 'Can i go up to my room?' Rose asks 'sure' I reply 'we can go over the test questions after lunch Pepper smile. We watch as Rose leaves the room with the envelope in her hand 'how is she doing?' I ask 'Rose is doing amazingly, she improving everyday.' Pepper smiles.

Rose's pov

Pepper and I were sat in my room downstairs practicing my reading, James was currently training with Steve and the others. 'You are doing really well Rose' Pepper tells me, 'you have come along way in the past few weeks' she adds.

'Hello ladies' tony smiles walking into the room 'hi tony' both of us reply 'everything okay?' Pepper asks 'yeah, I've got a letter for Rose' tony says passing me an envelope. 'Can i go up to my room?' I ask 'sure' tony replies 'we can go over the test questions after lunch Pepper smile.

Walking upstairs with the envelope I head to James and I livingroom, walking in I see its from the US Government, thinking I've done something wrong and in trouble I walk over to our safe space. Sitting down I sit with the envelope in my hands unable to open it.

'Doll?' Looking up I see James crouched in front of me 'doll what's wrong?' He asks 'Tony gave me this' I reply showing him the envelope. 'Can I sit by you?' He asks, I nod and James moves to sit by me. 'Would you like me to read it for you?' James asks 'yes please' I reply passing him the envelope. Carefully opening it James begins to read.

The letter

Dear Miss Rose Barton

I'm writing this letter as a formal apology from the us government that the attempts to find you after you were taken at 6 years were unsuccessful due to your captors impacting the search and Rescue. We also apologise for what they put you through and made you do where you had no control, due to this we give you a pardon of any wrong doings during that time.

Furthermore due to you being unable to go to school or get a job during this time, we are issuing you back pay from the time of you being taken up till when you were rescued by the avengers.

This pay currently stands at $1,950,000. In addition to this we will continue to pay $2,000 a month for the foreseeable future.

We hope you will accept our apologies and hope you are able to find something you enjoy. Wishing you all the best for the future.

I look at James as I'm confused 'doll?' He asks 'I don't understand' I reply 'what don't you understand?' He asks 'this' I reply gesturing to the letter. 'It means you free doll' James smiles 'but why give me money?' I ask, James smiles at me. 'Remember when I told you that I got pardoned after they proved that I was not acceptable for the crimes of the winter soldier due to the mind control' James says 'yes' I reply 'also from the time of my capture after falling of the train until we tried to escape and i found Steve' he adds I nod my head, 'as I was a prisoner of war they awarded me back pay for that time' James says. 'But why this, how do they know all this, also why give me.money and continue to do so?' I ask. 'I think tony got you pardoned and the money, as they said in the letter due to you not being able to go to school or get a job they gave you this money. With the continuing pay tony may have told them you are currently have lessons.' James says. 'But what do I do with all this money, I don't know anything to do with it' I say looking at him, 'I can help so can Papa and Steve. Tony too. We can help you understand finance' James smiles 'Steve helped me when I got mine' he adds. 'Thank you Jamie' I smile at him before resting my head on his shoulder, 'would you like to go out for lunch?' He asks 'I'd like that Jamie' I smile at him.

Buckys pov

This morning I was sparing with Steve in the gym, 'how's Rose this morning?' He asks 'she's doing okay, busy with studies, she told me May's going to give her a test next week' I tell him 'that will be good. It will show how's she's progressing.' Steve smiles. After training I left the gym to see how Rose was, walking to her room I find it empty. 'She's gone upstairs' Pepper tells me walking from Tony's office 'thanks Pepper' I smile.

Walking into our livingroom I look round for Rose, I find her sat in our safespace holding something in her hand. 'Doll?' I ask 'doll, what's wrong?' I ask crouching in front of her. She shows me an envelope saying Tony gave it to her. I asked if it was okay to sit by her and if I could read it for her, which she said yes.

After reading the letter which told Rose that she had been pardoned and that they are awarding her back pay plus continuing pay. Rose was confused why she was receiving it and getting pardoned. I explained about getting pardoned myself and receiving back pay due to being a prisoner of war. She told me she didn't know anything to do with finance, I said that clint, Steve and myself could help even Tony.

'Would you like to go out for lunch?' I ask Rose, 'I'd like that Jamie' Rose smiles 'let me shower and get ready' I smile before standing up 'come on doll' I smile holding my hand out for her. Taking my hand Rose stands up walking into the livingroom she sits on the sofa with the letter in her hands. 'I won't be long' I smile before leaning down kissing her forehead 'love you doll' I smile 'love you too Jamie' Rose smiles. 'I won't be long' I tell her before walking through the door into our bedroom.

I had just came out of the bathroom and was changing when I heard voices in the livingroom 'hey Rosie' 'hey papa' Rose replies 'what have you got there?' Clint asks 'a letter' she replies 'That's great news Rosie' I hear Rose say. 'Hey Rose, Where's Buck?' I hear Steve ask 'he's in the bathroom having a shower and changing' Rose says 'you can wait here' she adds. 'How are you Rose?' Steve asks 'I'm okay. Tony gave me this' I hear her say. 'Wow, thats good news Rose' I hear Steve says.

When I walk out I see Steve and Clint sat on the sofa 'hey guys' I smile walking over to them, sitting down in my arm. 'That's good news' I smile gesturing to the letter in Steve's hands 'it is, its good to hear the outcome' clint smiles 'what do you mean papa?' Rose asks turning to face Clint. 'For the past few weeks Steve, Tony and myself had been attending meetings giving evidence for you pardon' Clint replies. 'Thank you Papa' Rose smile hugging Clint 'thank you Stevie' Rose smiles hugging Steve 'that's okay Rose' Steve smiles back hugging her.

'We are going out for lunch, if you both would like to join us' I offer 'yes please' Steve and Clint smiles. 'I'll go get my shoes on' Rose smiles standing up walking into our bedroom. 'How was she when she found out?' Clint asks me quietly 'she was confused why she had it and didn't understand' I replied 'she told me she doesn't know anything about finance, but I said we would help her if she wants' I smile. I feel a pair wrap round my waist from behind 'ready doll' I smile at Rose 'I am' she replies. Wrapping my arm around her the four of us walk downstairs to the garage 'Tony!' Rose shouts running to him 'thank you' she smile hugging 'thats okay Rose' he replies hugging her back smiling.
