Rose's pov

Since the fire were James copy of the hobbit got damaged I felt bad. 'I'm sorry James' I cried when I realised mamas recipe book got damaged too. Mama told me she can fix it for me, James on the other 'doll it's fine. It's just a book. I can get another one' he says pulling me into a hug.

I was sat with Pepper having a break from revising for the test I had coming up. 'Pepper?' I ask 'yes rose' she replies smiling 'do you know of any antique shops around here, ones that sell books?' I ask. 'I do, would you like me to show you?' She asks 'yes please' I reply. Pepper showed me where all of the shops were. 'Thanks Pepper, I'll  go tomorrow and look' I say 'that's okay Rose, would you like me to come with you?' She asks 'thanks for the offer but I think I'll be okay' I smile 'if anyone asks just say I've popped out.' I smile.

~the next day~

'Morning doll' James smiles at me as we lie in bed 'morning Jamie' I smile 'what's your plans for today?' He ask 'revising. I have tests coming up next week' I reply 'you will smash it doll' James smiles. 'You get ready, I'll get started on breakfast' James smiles at me before climbing out of bed walking into our livingroom. With Tony giving us a kitchenette we are able to have breakfast in our room together giving us space from the others.

'Have a good day doll' James smiles hugging me after walking me to my room so I could revise 'thanks Jamie' I smile. 'I love you' I add 'I love you too doll' he smiles back leaning in kissing me gently on the lips. James left to go train with Steve and Sam, once I knew the coast was clear I left the compound texting Pepper to let her know I  had left.

I went to the first shop looking round I spotted a vinyl player 'this is from 1936' a voice behind me said 'it's believed that it was once owned by one of the howling commandos. Sargent Barnes.' They tell me. This was James's? I thought 'I'll buy it' I tell them 'could I have someone collect it for me as I still have a bit more shopping to do' I ask 'of course, if I can have a name for collection' they ask  'sure its Luna' I reply 'many thanks luna, I hope you enjoy it' they tell me smiling.

Once out I ring Pepper 'hey pepper' , 'hey Rose everything okay?' She asks 'yeah, I  was just wondering if you could collect something I just bought from an antique shop' I ask 'of course which one' she asks. I tell her 'and pepper' I say 'it's under the name Luna' I add 'thanks for letting me know. Good thinking of using a diffent name' pepper says 'I'll put it in your room' she adds 'thanks pepper' I reply before hanging up.

I continue walking round the various antiques shops none of them had the book. I was about to give up until I reached the final shop. 'Good evening can I help?' An older gentleman asks 'I'm looking for a copy of the hobbit' i reply. 'Well miss, your in luck. I have here a copy of the hobbit from 1937 signed by the author if you want to look' they tell me 'yes please' I reply smiling. I remember James telling me about him reading the hobbit when it came out in 1937. Opening the front of the book I see its signed by the author with a message

this is James book. 'I'll get it' I smile. 'He's a hero of mine, Sargent Barnes' I smile 'well then miss you might be interested in this. It was dropped in at the same time' he tells me lifting up a box 'have a look' he says. Inside I saw pictures of James, Steve, an older couple and a girl. There were some medals and letters too 'the medals were his father's George Barnes. The letters are what James wrote to Rebbeca his sister and is ma' he tells me 'James lost his life whilst fighting along side his childhood friend Steve' my pops fought along side them both, both were hero's, still are to me' he says 'that's why I couldn't just sell it to anyone, it had to be the right person' he adds 'someone true of heart.' He smile. 'Thank you I smile' I pay for both items paying more than he asked 'I'll definitely be in again I smile before leaving.
