Meeting the Grandparents

Bucky's pov

Rose and I were sat on our bed when we hear the door bell went 'NANA GRANDAD!' I hear Lila and Cooper shout as they run to the door to greet Laura's parents. 'merry Christmas kids' a male voice say, 'Kids let your grandparents in' I hear say. I hear them walk towards the front room. 'Where's Rose? a female voice asks 'she's in here room with her boyfriend' Laura says. 'can we meet her?' the male voice says, 'maybe later if she is comfortable' Clint  replies, 'She been through a lot so has her boyfriend, so give them time and they may come out' He adds. 

'Doll?' I ask quietly, 'yeah?' Rose whispers. 'how are you feeling?' I ask softly, 'scared' Rose replies looking up at me, 'Its okay Rose, we don't have to go out if you are not ready' I smile softly. 'what if they hate me, hate you?' Rose asks, 'I'm sure they wont hate you Love' I smile before kissing her forehead. 

After a while I watch as Rose climbs of the bed before slipping off the bed before slowly walking over to the door. I remain quiet observing what Rose is doing. I watch as she opens the door slightly poking her head out before diving under our bed as the door remains open. Climbing off the bed i slowly push the door closed before walking over to Rose who is hiding under the bed. 'Doll?' I ask as i crouch beside the bed, 'its okay doll, you don't need to rush or force yourself to go out if your not comfortable or ready' I say softly. 'If you want we can cuddle in bed watching Christmas films. I'll even grab us some drinks and snacks from our cupboard in the kitchen' I offer.  'okay' I hear Rose say quietly. I watch as Rose slowly comes out from under the bed, 'there's my beautiful girl' I smile softly. 'Choose a film and i will go get the drink and snacks' I smile before kissing her forehead. 

I leave our room quietly, making my way to the kitchen. I dont look round as not to draw attention. At Clints home we have two cupboards. One has a blanket, picnic basket etc, the second has our snacks, drinks and food. In the kitchen I lift out a basket filling it with snacks, drinks and some glasses. 'how is she?' i turn to see Clint, 'a bit nervous, scared.' I tell him, 'ive just come to get some drinks and snacks, I think we will watch a film' i add. 'Sorry that we are not there with you' 'its okay Bucky, feel free to come out when every your ready' Clint smiles. 

'i didnt know you had a brother Clint' a female voice says, turning i see an older lady who i think is Lauras mom, 'Bucky Barnes marm' I smile holding out my hand 'nice to meet you Im Carol, Laura's mom 'its lovely to meet you Carol' I smile. Suddenly I see Rose bolting from our room, 'Please excuse me' I say politely before running out of the door after Rose. I find Rose at our spot by the tree. 'Rose?' I ask softly as I sit beside her, 'what wrong?' I ask softly as I could see her crying. 'Stranger entered our room....... not safe' Rose cries whilst shaking. 'Oh Doll.' i say softly pulling her in close. 'You are safe, that could have been your grandad, not realising it was our room. Our safe space' I say quietly kissing the top of her head. 

'I met your grandma' I say softly 'you...did?' Rose asks looking up at me, 'I did. she was friendly' I smile. 'Rose can I suggest something?' I ask. 'okay?' Rose replies quietly, 'When you are ready and feel comfortable, why dont we go and say hi before heading back to our room, or we could even try spending a few minutes?' I suggest...... Rose thinks for a moment, 'Okay' she says quietly 'Could you carry me?, my leg is hurting' Rose says 'Of course Doll, you know I would carry you anytime you wish' I smile softly kissing the top of her head. 

After a few moments Rose is ready to head back inside, as I carry Rose she wraps her arms and legs around me as I walk inside. 'How is she?' Clint asks softly walking over, 'okay, I think?' I reply, 'Just got a bit scared' I add, 'who's this?' Carol asks after walking over, 'Carol, this is Rose' Clint says softly, 'hi Rose' Carol says softly, I feel Rose turn her head 'Hi' Rose says quietly, 'Who are you talking to Love?' a male voice says loudly causing Rose to turn away tightening her grip on me, 'Harry, why dont you come over and see, and please be calm and not loud' Carol says. I watch as Harry walks over, 'whos this?' he asks, 'Harry, this is Rose' Clint says. 

'Rose?' harry says 'Buttercup? Is that you?' he asks, 'Paw?' Rose says quietly slowly turning her head, 'hey buttercup' Harry smiles, 'Paw!' Rose says smiling slightly. 'Who's this young man?' Harry asks, 'Bucky Barnes Sir, I'm ...... Rose's Boyfriend' I reply Holding out my right hand for him to shake, 'Nice to meet you son' Harry smiles.  Rose and I sit in our usual chair with Rose still in my lap, Lila and Cooper had gone up to their bedroom to play and give us space. 

'I must say Bucky, you look familiar' Carol says, 'I do?' i ask, 'yeah, from the smithsonium. The captain America exhibition, you look so like his childhood friend are you related.' she asks. 'I am him Carol' I smile, 'Your THE Bucky Barnes from WW2?' Harry asks, I nod, 'How are you still alive?' he asks 'HARRY!' Carol exclaims. 'Its okay, I was on a mission with Steve when I fell from a train' I say, 'From that fall I lost my left arm, the rest im not really comfortable talking about' I say. 'how did you and Rose meet? isnt there a big age gap?' harry asks, 'that's part of a bigger story, its up to Rose when we talk..' 'You can say Jamie' Rose says quietly. 'Are you sure doll?' i whisper quietly. 'Yeah'

'I was taken when I was 5' Rose says, 'Taken by not nice people. That's where I met James, we were both prisoners , made to do things against our will. One thing led me to loosing my lower left leg' Rose says, 'Oh Buttercup, i am sorry. And to you Bucky' Harry says, 'James kept me safe, after he got out he was on a mission when he found me' Rose says. 'Why did only he get out?' Harry asks 'We both were attempting to get out, but one of the men got her so she told me to go and find my friend. I thought I had lost her until I found her on the mission a year later' I say. 'I can tell you care for her' Carol says, 'I do Carol' I smile. 'she's my world' I add still smiling. Rose and I spend time with them both before heading into our room to destress till tea when we re-joined the others. 

'your grandparents are lovely Doll' I smile wrapping my arms around her as we cuddle in bed, 'yeah, they love you Jamie' Rose smiles, 'and you Rose' i smile as i gently run my fingers through her hair. 'How are you feeling after meeting them Rose?' I ask her softly, 'Im feeling okay. Its nice to see them again after so many years, Our family is growing' Rose says looking up at me. 'Our family?' I ask slightly confused 'You are apart of our family James, my family are yours. My silblings are yours too, if you'd like?' Rose replies, 'Id like that doll, in hydra before we met i never thought I would have a family, and now i do' I smile. 'I love you so much Doll' i smile kissing her forehead. 'i love you too Jamie' Rose smiles. Rose moves slightly so her head is on my chest, i feel her slowly fall asleep, 'Sleep well, my love' I say quietly wrapping my arms around her falling asleep myself.
