Chapter 1 Enchanted Encounters

Mailin's POV:

Today marks the beginning of a new chapter in my life – my first day at Luna Nova! I'm Mailin Rosewood, and I come from a family where I'm the only one with magical abilities.

The anticipation bubbling inside me during the journey to the school is palpable. My parents share in my excitement, their unwavering support a comforting presence. They've always been incredible, especially when I came out as a lesbian. Their acceptance and encouragement mean the world to me.

As we finally arrive at Luna Nova, I'm filled with a mix of nerves and exhilaration. Despite the school year already being in full swing, the staff graciously welcome me.

Led by the headmistress, we embark on a tour of the school grounds. Pausing at the railing overlooking the bustling cafeteria, she points out the vibrant hub of student activity below.

"It's lunchtime, so everyone's gathered here," the headmistress explains.

My gaze sweeps over the sea of students, but it's immediately drawn to a captivating figure. A girl with striking pink and blonde hair sits amidst her friends, her captivating lime-green eyes sparkling with laughter.

She's breathtaking. In an instant, my heart races, and warmth floods my cheeks. While I've never been one to believe in love at first sight, in this moment, I feel as though I've stumbled upon something magical.

Lost in admiration, I'm momentarily unaware that my parents and the headmistress have resumed the tour.

"Mailin? Mailin!" My mother's voice snaps me back to reality.

Startled, I tear my gaze away from the mesmerizing girl. "Coming!" I respond hastily, trailing after my family. Unbeknownst to me, the girl who captured my heart watches me depart, her gaze lingering inquisitively.

Amanda's POV:

"I had no idea we were getting a new student," I remarked, turning back to my friends after stealing a glance at the mysterious, captivating girl who had just entered the cafeteria.

The others simply shrugged in response, except for Akko, whose grin stretched from ear to ear. "That's fantastic news! We should go introduce ourselves! She could become a new friend!" Akko exclaimed, already starting to rise from her seat, but Lotte quickly restrained her.

"Akko, sit back down! The headmistress is approaching!" Lotte interjected, gesturing discreetly towards the incoming figure.

Turning my attention, I spotted the headmistress accompanied by a woman, a man, and the enchanting new arrival. My breath caught as I took in her striking features – her dark blonde hair cascading effortlessly around her shoulders, and those mesmerizing green eyes that hinted at a hint of shyness.

Observing from a distance, I watched as the headmistress guided her over to two students whom I recognized only by sight.

Mailins POV:

The headmistress introduced me to two girls.

"Nike, Naile, this is your new dorm mate, Mailin," the headmistress announced, gesturing towards me.

"Hi," Nike greeted me cheerfully, while Naile simply waved. I returned their gestures with a shy smile and a wave of my own.

"Mailin," the headmistress addressed me, "I will now return to my office with your parents to go over everything again. Nike and Naile, would you please show Mailin the room you three will be sharing?"

"Of course!" Nike exclaimed, rising from her seat. She took my hand, causing me to blush lightly, and began leading the way. Naile followed closely behind us.

Amanda's POV:

"Come on, guys! Let's introduce ourselves to her now!" Akko's enthusiastic voice prompted us to rise from our seats and approach the new student. I trailed behind Akko, along with Lotte, Sucy, Jasminka, and Constanze.

Once we reached the new student, Akko eagerly jumped in front of her. "Hi! I'm Akko, and this is Sucy," she said, gesturing towards Sucy who nodded in acknowledgment, "and this is Lotte!" Lotte offered a friendly wave.

"Oh, uh, hi. I'm Mailin," the girl stuttered slightly, her nerves palpable.

Sensing her discomfort, I gently pulled Akko away. "Give her some space, Akko," I advised before turning my attention to the new girl. My breath caught in my throat as I took in her beauty up close. Clearing my throat, I extended my hand. "Hi, I'm Amanda, and this is Constanze and Jasminka."

"I'm Mailin... but, uh, I already said that! Hehe..." Mailin chuckled nervously as she shook my hand. As our hands connected, a spark seemed to pass between us, sending a warm sensation from her touch up my arm and causing a light flush to spread across my cheeks.

Mailin's POV:

As I shook Amanda's hand, I felt a spark between us, igniting a blush that spread across my entire face. The heat was undeniable, and I couldn't help but feel flustered in her presence.

"Sorry, guys, but we've got to go now. We need to show Mailin our room, and she probably needs to unpack, right?" Naile glanced at me, breaking the moment.

"Oh, yeah..." My enthusiasm dampened slightly at the realization that I wouldn't be able to continue talking with Amanda for the time being.

"We could come with you!" Amanda's unexpected offer caught me off guard, and another wave of blush crept up my cheeks. The prospect of spending more time with her filled me with happiness, despite my internal struggle to contain my emotions.

"Damn it, Mailin, stop blushing! You don't even know her that well!" I scolded myself internally. But deep down, I couldn't deny the intense connection I felt with Amanda, even if it had only been a brief encounter.

Amanda's POV:

"We could come with you!" I blurted out, my own surprise evident in the sudden stutter in my voice. Where had that come from? I chided myself mentally, struggling to regain my composure.

"Get yourself together, Amanda!" I scolded inwardly. "You've only known her for a few minutes. How could she affect you so deeply already?"

Third POV:

Naile and Nike exchanged knowing glances, a mischievous twinkle in their eyes as they observed the interaction between Amanda and Mailin. It was clear to them what was happening between the two girls.

As they made their way to their room, the realization dawned on both Naile and Nike simultaneously. "I ship it," they agreed in unison, sharing a knowing smile at the budding connection between Mailin and Amanda.
