Mailin's pov
Today marked the day of the festival. Although three weeks had passed since the unsettling incident, I hadn't fully recovered. Despite this, I felt alright. The others frequently asked if I could recall anything, but I kept the truth hidden. Revealing it would only put them in danger.
Outside, Nike, Naile, and I busied ourselves with the final preparations for the fireworks. As the festival commenced, we joined the rest of the group in the stadium-like seats.
Drumrolls echoed as the witch from LNN took the stage to make her announcements. The festival unfolded before us. Three witches brewed a potion, resulting in an explosion that covered the stage in green goo. I couldn't help but grin widely as Amanda glided onto the stage on skates.
"The moment you've all been waiting for, the cleaning girls!" Amanda announced, effortlessly maneuvering over the goo and cleaning it up. My heart swelled with admiration. "She's so amazing," I sighed happily.
Beside me, Naile and Nike teased, "You're so lovesick!" Their words made me blush, but I laughed along with them.
The festival continued, with moments of impressiveness, particularly when Diana took the stage. The unicorn she presented was simply breathtaking.
As the full moon was obscured by clouds, the announcer from LNN signaled the end of the festivities. The sacrifice ceremony was about to commence, with Lotte, Sucy, and Akko as this year's chosen ones.
As Akko, Lotte, and Sucy took the stage, the clock struck midnight. Akko, always cheerful, greeted the audience, confusing everyone with her enthusiasm. Suddenly, Baharowa appeared, and I watched in shock as Akko, Lotte, and Sucy seemingly vanished.
Rushing closer to the stage, I sought Amanda's hand for comfort. Together, we watched as Akko faced Baharowa with courage. The stage trembled, but Amanda reassured me, her calming presence steadying my nerves.
Baharowa engulfed Akko, Lotte, and Sucy, and we held our breath in anticipation. Then, in a burst of light and color, Baharowa vanished, leaving behind a mesmerizing display.
As the lights faded, Akko, Lotte, and Sucy reappeared, unharmed. The festival concluded, and amidst the cheers, I couldn't help but declare it the "BEST. FESTIVAL. EVER!"
Exhausted but exhilarated, we made our way back to our rooms, the adrenaline from the night's events still coursing through our veins. As we drifted off to sleep, the memories of the extraordinary festival lingered in our minds.
