Amanda's Pov:

My heart pounded in my chest as I witnessed Mailin being snatched away, her terrified screams echoing in my ears.

"Mailin! NO!" My heart clenched with anguish as I sprinted after them, desperately reaching out for her hand. But she slipped from my grasp, her eyes wide with fear, and I felt a part of me shatter.

Quickly mounting my broom, I turned to Akko. "Akko! Let's go!"

"Right!" Akko replied, moving toward me, but her steps faltered as she suddenly yelped and tumbled into a concealed hole in the ground. "Akko?"

Descending after her, I called out, "Akko! Are you alright?"

"Do you think we're inside the ruins?" Akko's voice echoed from the darkness below.

"Looks like we stumbled upon a secret passageway," I surmised as we began to explore.

Emerging into a dimly lit room, Akko questioned, "What kind of room is this?"

"It seems like some sort of food pantry," I observed, scanning the surroundings.

Descending further, a massive dragon entered the room, and my heart skipped a beat. In a cage, I spotted Mailin and the others, thankfully unharmed. Mailin stood defiantly before them, attempting to conceal her fear with bravery.

"It's them!" Akko whispered beside me.

"Not good," I murmured, before my attention was diverted by Akko, who swung on a nearby chain, boldly confronting the dragon. "Stay away from my friends!" she shouted.

"Idiot!" I exclaimed, but it was too late. The dragon seized her, and Akko trembled in terror as she pleaded for her life.

Then, to our astonishment, the lights flickered on, and the dragon admonished Akko to be quiet. We exchanged bewildered glances as the dragon spoke again, revealing a surprising twist to the situation

He then tossed her aside, and I swiftly swooped in, catching Akko on my broom.

"So you're the ones that triggered my security system, aren't you?" the dragon remarked as he strolled away. He unlatched the cage, and I gently landed next to it with Akko. Disembarking from my broom, I rushed toward Mailin and enveloped her in a tight embrace.

"I'm so glad you're okay," I murmured, reluctant to let her go. She returned the embrace, holding me just as tightly. When we finally parted, I couldn't resist the urge to intertwine my fingers with hers, feeling a rush of warmth flood through me as she reciprocated, refusing to let go. Turning to her, I was met with a soft smile that set my heart aflutter.

As we watched the dragon, engrossed in his actions, my mind raced with excitement. "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh! Amanda is holding my hand!" I squeezed her hand, feeling the heat rise to my cheeks. Her touch felt perfect, grounding me in the chaos around us.

Meanwhile, the dragon addressed us, his tone businesslike. "You must be from Luna Nova. So, have you brought the money with you then?"

"Wait, what money?" Akko questioned, bewildered by the dragon's inquiry.

"Didn't the headmistress send you here to pay me back?" the dragon clarified.

"What are you saying? We came here to reclaim the sorcerer's stone," Akko countered.

Just then, a chime echoed through the room, drawing our attention to the monitor behind us. The headmistress and two other professors appeared, their expressions mirroring our confusion. They explained that they didn't possess sufficient funds to repay the dragon.

Suddenly, Diana materialized, asserting that the debt had already been settled. With the situation resolved, we embarked on our journey back to Luna Nova, where we were greeted with the familiar task of laundry duty.

"I can't believe we still have to do this!" Akko grumbled, voicing our collective frustration.

"It's not that bad, and we did break the rules by leaving the school grounds," Lotte reasoned, offering a perspective of acceptance.

As we completed the laundry task, Amanda approached the clothesline with a hint of reluctance, grumbling under her breath.
