Mailin's POV:

We entered the room designated for Nike, Naile, and me, settling into our temporary home. Jasminka and Constanze departed, leaving me with Naile, Nike, Akko, Lotte, Sucy, and Amanda.

Nike and Naile had already staked their claim on the bunk beds, leaving me with the regular bed. I didn't mind; I began unpacking my bags, feeling Amanda's gaze on me as she settled onto my bed, leaning against the wall.

As we chatted, Akko and Nike occupied the top bunk, while Naile and Sucy claimed the bottom. Amanda's lime green eyes followed my every move, prompting her to inquire about my late arrival.

"So, Mailin, why did you arrive a few days after the school year started?" Amanda's curiosity was palpable.

I blushed under her scrutiny. "Oh, um... I'm from Germany, actually, and had... some trouble on my way here," I explained sheepishly.

"Really?" Akko interjected with amazement. "Sounds awesome. Well, not the trouble part, but Germany sounds awesome!"

I smiled, grateful for the distraction, and resumed unpacking, feeling Amanda's gaze linger on me.

As night fell, we bid each other goodnight, and I lingered at the door until Amanda was the last to leave.

"Goodnight, Mailin," she whispered softly.

"Goodnight, Amanda," I replied, my heart fluttering at the sound of her name.

[Time Skip]

Today marked my first flight magic class, and I was brimming with excitement. Standing beside Amanda, I eagerly awaited the teacher's instructions.

As the lesson commenced, the teacher explained the basics of flight magic, instructing new students like me to focus on the fundamentals while others practiced acceleration.

"Tia Freyre!" the teacher announced, prompting everyone but Akko, Sucy, and me to take flight.

Amanda flashed me a reassuring smile before soaring into the air.

"New students over here!" the teacher called out, guiding us through the steps of mounting our brooms and envisioning ourselves in flight.

As Sucy and I lifted off, Akko struggled to cast the spell. Despite her efforts, she remained grounded, prompting amusement from Sucy and me.

Watching Amanda effortlessly navigate the skies, I couldn't help but admire her grace and skill, feeling a familiar warmth rise to my cheeks. She was mesmerizing, captivating my attention with every move.

"Amanda! How many times do I have to tell you?! No acrobatics!" the teacher's reprimand interrupted my reverie.

"Ugh, party pooper," Amanda muttered, earning a giggle from me.

"Hey! I heard that!" the teacher exclaimed.

[After Class]

Amanda's POV:

With classes over and free time on my hands, I decided to invite Mailin to accompany me to town. Thoughts of her filled my mind as I walked down the hallway, pondering how extraordinary she truly was. Despite our differences, I found myself inexplicably drawn to her kind, gentle nature. Her shy demeanor and unwavering adherence to rules only added to her allure.

Stopping in front of her room, I was taken aback when Mailin emerged, a nervous smile playing on her lips.

"A-Amanda! What are you doing here?" she stammered, clearly surprised by my presence.

"I wanted to ask if you'd like to come to town with me. I have some errands to run, and Constanze and Jasminka are busy," I explained.

"Oh... uh, yeah, sure," Mailin replied, her smile brightening my day.

As we made our way to town, I couldn't help but notice the warmth of her smile and the subtle blush that graced her cheeks. Could it be that she felt the same way about me?

Once in town, I played the role of tour guide, showing Mailin around with enthusiasm.

"Hey, Mailin?" I ventured.

"Hm?" she responded, turning to me with curiosity.

"Are you excited for the broom race?"

"I'm not participating, but I'll cheer for you if you want. I bet you'll win! You've got some really awesome flying tricks!" she exclaimed, her words filling me with confidence.

"Thanks, I'll do my best," I replied, feeling a warmth spread through me at her encouragement.

As we visited the magic item cafe, time seemed to fly by, and before I knew it, we were heading back to school.

[Little Time Skip]

Mailin's POV:

"Are you sure it's okay to take the legendary broom?" I asked Amanda anxiously.

"Don't worry, everything will be fine," she reassured me with a smirk that sent a shiver down my spine.

"Okay," I sighed, putting my trust in her as we returned to school. The broom race was about to begin, and I could only hope for the best.

Preparing for the day ahead, I found myself filled with a mix of excitement and apprehension. With no classes scheduled due to the broom race, my thoughts lingered on Amanda's safety, particularly with the dangerous legendary broom in play.

A knock on the door interrupted my thoughts, and I was met with Amanda's voice asking if I was ready. Stepping into the hallway, I nodded in affirmation, a smile playing on my lips.

"Yeah, let's go to the broom race. I've got to cheer you on, after all," I replied, mustering up as much enthusiasm as I could.

Exiting the building, Amanda surprised me by grabbing my hand and pulling me into a tight hug. My cheeks flushed furiously as I returned the embrace, caught off guard by her sudden display of affection.

"Uh, what's this for?" I stammered, my heart racing at the closeness between us.

"Thanks for supporting me," Amanda murmured shyly, her words sending a warm flutter through my chest.

"Of course," I replied, unable to contain the smile that spread across my face.

As the headmistress commenced her speech, my attention shifted to the impending race. Standing on the sidelines, I listened to the Luna Nova News reporter's enthusiastic commentary, feeling a pang of nervousness for Amanda's safety.

"They all look so athletic," Lotte remarked beside me, prompting me to glance dreamily at Amanda. Nike and Naile's giggles reminded me that I had spoken my thoughts aloud, causing my cheeks to burn with embarrassment.

My concern grew as I watched the case containing the legendary broom shake ominously. But before I knew it, the racers were taking their positions. Amanda shot me a smirk before taking off, filling me with a mixture of pride and anxiety.

"Good luck!" I called after her, a smile tugging at my lips as she winked in response, sending another wave of heat to my cheeks.

Nike and Naile's teasing only added to my embarrassment, but I brushed it off, focusing my attention on cheering for Amanda as she took to the skies. Despite her efforts, she was ultimately disqualified, and my heart sank at the realization that she hadn't won the race.
