We all gathered in the school cafeteria, the air buzzing with the clatter of cutlery and the hum of conversation. It had been a few weeks since the nine witches, including my girlfriend Amanda, had saved the world. I couldn't help but feel a sense of awe and pride as I watched them, though my own role had been more of a spectator than a participant.

The lively chatter came to a halt as the principal made her entrance, commanding attention with a clap of her hands. She announced a surprise for the students: a grand ball to honor the nine witches who had played a pivotal role in saving us all. The Appleton academy would also be joining us, ensuring that each of our lovely students would have a partner for the event. The excitement in the room was palpable as the principal delivered the news, and cheers erupted as she departed.

Akko blushed furiously, whispering excitedly about Andrew's attendance and expressing her hopes of being asked to the ball. I couldn't contain my own excitement. "Oh, this is going to be so much fun!" I exclaimed, unable to hide my enthusiasm. "We'll get to wear beautiful dresses! I'm SO EXCITED!"

Beside me, Amanda chuckled, her amusement evident. "I'm totally not doing that," she declared, though her playful tone belied any genuine reluctance.

"But babe!" I pleaded, turning to her with pleading eyes, knowing full well the power they held over her.

Amanda averted her gaze, attempting to conceal her blush as she grumbled a few choice words before relenting. "Fine! But only for you, sweetie!"

"Yay! You're the best!" I exclaimed, wrapping her in a tight hug, overcome with gratitude.

"I know," Amanda replied, her tone laced with amusement as she affectionately kissed the top of my head.

Thursday afternoon rolled around, and the girls and I found ourselves wandering through town, on a mission to find the perfect dresses for the upcoming ball. With the school graciously granting us the afternoon off, the streets were abuzz with excitement and anticipation.

As we flitted from one shop to another, I couldn't help but feel a pang of annoyance deep within me. Shopping was never my preferred pastime, but seeing the excitement on my friends' faces made it bearable.

Amidst the sea of dresses, one caught my eye: a stunning turquoise ensemble with delicate white accents adorning the waist and neckline. It was simply breathtaking, and to my surprise, it was on sale.

Without hesitation, I made my way towards the dress, eager to inspect it up close. As I held it in my hands, a sense of certainty washed over me—it was the one. With a quick glance around, I made my way to the changing rooms, eager to see how it would look on me.

To my delight, the dress fit like a dream, hugging my curves in all the right places. Without a second thought, I made the purchase, knowing it would be the perfect outfit for the ball. Secretly, I harbored a plan to surprise Mailin with it on Saturday evening, hoping to see the look of joy on her face.

Exiting the shop with my prized possession in hand, I joined up with the others, each of us beaming with excitement over our newfound treasures.

The following day, after classes had ended, I sought out Mailin, asking her to meet me outside in the courtyard.

Amanda had summoned me to the courtyard, and my curiosity bubbled as I wondered what she had in store. As I approached, my heart raced with anticipation, the memories of this place flooding back—this was where we had shared our first kiss, where our love story had begun.
