Undertaker shook his head, trying to understand all of what Mikki was saying while they sat in a room in the Phantomhive Manor when they returned. "Wait a minute... Your parents--"

"Aren't at all who anyone thought them to be," Mikki finished. "But they aren't immortal like demons and reapers are. I've grown up around them. I've seen my father's hair turn grey. I've seen wrinkles appear. But... somehow one is a demon and the other is a reaper..."

"Well," Sebastian said, his chin between his forefinger and thumb as he thought this over. "In a way, this actually does make sense when I put more thought into it. You see, there's a way for all kind, except humans, to retire. Not from what they do, but from who they are. They can become human if they so wish, but they must go through a lot before they can, and many are even killed by their own kind for their choice to live a normal, human life. My guess is that your parents fell in love, but due to the rivalry between demons and grim reapers, they figured it best to retire to humans, where they could live happily, have and raise children, and not have to worry about much. However, nowadays it's much, much more complicated to retire yourself from your species. There can even be severe punishments for doing so, or even thinking of doing it."

"But I see baby pictures of them, as well as growing up. I have extended family, too," Mikki said.

"When you retire your species, you are basically starting your life over. You are born into a family and grow normally with no actual memories of your life as a demon, reaper, angel, or whatever you were before. However, it's possible for your past life to appear before you in what humans call both dreams and nightmares," Sebastian replied.

"But if you say they fell in love and retired together, how was it that they so easily found and fell for each other again?" Mei-Rin asked. Sebastian went on.

"There is a way I once heard long ago that if you really do love the other, and they feel the same for you, it's possible to meet and find each other in the human world, as humans. But the timing must be precise and there's a few other things as well. I doubt it always guarantees you'll find the person again, but there's always a chance. Your parents, Lady McKenzie, were one of the lucky ones," he said.

"Okay," Mikki replied with a small nod. "But I have siblings. Two older sisters who are twins, an older brother, and a younger brother. Are they all warlocks, too?" she asked.

"There's a chance they have the potential to be," William said, adjusting his spectacles with his scythe. "However, you may be the only one of them to actually become one."

"How is that? Why do they only have the potential?" Mikki asked, turning to the reaper.

"You only had the potential, as well, Miss Brunswick. However, you were the only one to act on that potential, even if you didn't know you had it. You somewhat understood reapers and demons and such from what you had told us. Then Undertaker came and found you, and you went with him. Granted, he more took you, but you decided to stay. Then he worked on getting you to be a Grim Reaper like him. That's when the potential inside of you grew. It would have been the same had a demon, such as the butler, made you one of his kind. Either way, you never would have been able to be a demon or a reaper. You'd have ended up as a warlock," William explained.

"My guess is that it took a while for your abilities as a warlock to fully set in, which is why nobody knew right away. Not even yourself. But you didn't have the chance to be a full reaper with the abilities we have," Ronald added.

"Actually, just the abilities we have. She's part demon and part reaper. She still carries the ability to do what we do," William added.

"I want to know who was who," Bardroy said. "Like was her mother or father the reaper? Who was the demon?"
