====MCKENZIE====

I feel my face heat up a little as Adrien talks about all the presents. I want to tell him it wasn't necessary, but he tells me not to fight him on it. Plus I want him to rest and not fret about gifts and such. I notice he's at least gotten much better from a while ago, and I'm thankful for his quick healing due to him being a reaper. I see that his wound on his cheek and neck are fading, and that makes my heart warm. I look at his eyes again, only to find them closed. He'd fallen asleep. I laugh quietly and kiss his nose. "Rest well, my love," I whisper quietly, then carefully get out of bed. I pull a blanket over his body and kiss his forehead before leaving the room and closing the door behind me.

I walk to the front room of the parlor, only to find it empty of the three people who were supposed to be in there. Then I look over at the desk-counter type thing and see a note written in elegant handwriting.

Lady McKenzie-

The young master and I have decided to take the man elsewhere to do the questioning, figuring it best just in case there were to be any noises that could disturb you or Undertaker. Please make sure he is well rested, and be sure to watch around for anything mysterious. I have made sure to secure the place to make sure nobody gets in that shouldn't be here. Take care.

-Sebastian M.

I fold the note and put it in my pocket (if I ever were to go back to my time, I would actually have a hand-written note from Sebastian Michaelis himself!) and lean against the counter. It's at that moment that I remember that Adrien has an actual job. I had completely forgotten about it. I never saw him work at it or anything because he's been so caught up with me. Does... does that mean he has to do it when he should be sleeping? Great, now I feel bad.

He supposedly makes the bodies of the deceased 'beautiful', doesn't he? I could do that, couldn't I? I walk to one of the closed coffins and open it. On top of the body is a card that says it's due by seven-thirty today in the afternoon. It's already six in the afternoon, and Adrien isn't in very good shape.

I rush over to behind the counter where shelves of jars and containers sit. I open some and find blue, green, and fuchsia dye. As much as I hate pink and all, I figure these colors would look nice together. I grab four empty jars and fill one with water, one with a little blue dye, another with a little green dye, and the last with a little fuchsia dye powder. I go into the kitchen and grab a spoon, then return and pour some water in with each dye and mix each together. I set the jars on a coffin next to the one with the body on it, and find some white lilies. I cut the stem of each of them and put about five in each jar of dye. I then examine the body.

There were multiple bullet wounds in the chest area and two on the head. There are cuts along the neck and arms, stab wounds in the chest, a split lip, and a missing right ear. The blood was already all cleaned away, and I go over to a bowl of water Adrien had in the corner and washed my hands.

I go back to the body, which I found was a woman that looked about in her thirties, and look at the flowers I had put in the dye. I was surprised to see how quickly the dye had soaked into the white petals of the flower. I move the woman's blonde hair over where her right ear would be and put a few of the blue lilies there as well. I get some cream that matched the woman's skin color and used it to cover the wounds on her face and arms, then put some of the fuchsia dye on her lips to cover the split there. I then put the fuchsia lilies in her hands that I folded over her chest, covering up the bullet and stab wounds. Finally, I scatter the green lilies around her legs and feet. Honestly, I'm very proud of my work.

"My, my," a voice says from behind me. I jump and turn around to see Adrien looking over my shoulder at the body. "She is... You made her look very beautiful, Mikki." He seemed to be in awe. I flushed slightly. It wasn't that great... was it?
