*3 Days Later*
Belle's POV:
"Sorry about that, he had orders not to leave his group. I had no idea that you were even here until today."
The dark haired man gave me a bottle of water after he untied the heavy metal chains that had kept me anchored to the pipes above my head for the past few days, there were other men behind him in the small hall with guns but none of them so much as looked at me. I decided to play dumb within reason because this must be the main man that caused all the problems for my people the other day, I sipped at the water until it was all gone and the man offered to help me stand and I took it since my knees were so shaky.
"He's been dealt with so there's nothing to worry about my dear, but I still wanted to apologize. Were you shot?"
He stopped touching me and looked down at my arm but since the wound was long gone I chose to lie about the hole in my clothes and the blood.
"No, I was out hunting so that you could have some fresh meat- my people said you were going to visit us in a few days and I wanted to do something special..."
My voice trailed off into nothing and the man smiled again before he put a hand back on my left shoulder and turned around so that I could face all of his men, his touch made me want to throw up but I managed to keep a straight face.
"Hear that fellas? She's a smart one out of that dumbass group!"
A few of the men inclined their heads in response and the man tightened his grip on me before gently pushing me out into the hall, causing me to rapidly blink against the harsh lighting.
"Let's get little miss here checked out by the Doc before we go and pay a visit to our new friends, shall we? Alex?"
A think looking man with glasses wormed his way up to the middle and bowed his head down before he eyed me with speculation, with a jolt I realized it was the dude from the truck who'd spotted my vomit. Luckily he didn't seem to recognize me.
"Sir?"
"Take little miss-?"
"....Belle."
"Take little miss Belle here to the Doc and make sure that idiot didn't do any lasting damage, I want her ready for dinner by the time I get back or you're gonna be up shit creek with no paddle. Got it?"
"Sir, yes sir."
I tried to open my mouth to ask a question but the man shook his head before he ever so gently grasped me by my right elbow and steered me away from everyone and down the hall, the whole place had the feel of an abandoned factory to it.
"I don't...can't I go home?"
The man shook his head again and put a finger to his lips.
"I'm not allowed to say anything- but I'll give you some advice. If you and your man want to leave this place alive then you need to do everything Negan says. Women are a novelty around here, but only the good ones."
*
"All done, everything seems normal."
The doctor of this placed looked to be a man in his late 60's, his left hand bore the tan line of a wedding ring at some point but I didn't bother asking. He took some blood before he checked the rest of my vitals but when he started a pelvic exam he stopped after a mere 15 seconds into it, the man seemed nice enough but I was still on edge about this whole place.
"I want to ask you a few questions though if you don't mind."
He had me changed into a paper like hospital gown but a stack of black fabric was waiting for me on a small metal table to the right of me with matching heels and what looked like ornaments for my hair.
"Sure....If you don't mind that I have a few of my own of course."
"As to be expected, of course."
He peeled a set of latex gloves off his hands and tossed them into a bin by the door before he folded his hands together and balanced them both on top of his left knee.
"I'm safe to assume that since Negan sent you down here he wants to...er...keep you with the other women. Your pelvic exam proves one problem with that though- is the man they have here your husband?"
"....I wouldn't go so far as to say that, maybe once upon a time but things change..."
He smiled.
"Well, you seem to be in your first trimester so congratulations on your pregnancy, but....your body seems to be further along then what some of the women here have been."
The fluttering began again between my hips and something on my face must have given me away because his lips pulled back up in another friendly smile.
"....pregnant?"
"Gestation size is around one month but the fetus is growing at a rapid pace, so no hard work for you."
Suddenly Jay's warning about not transforming made sense, but my brain was still semi-frozen, we hadn't slept together much but the one time....so even if I was pregnant, how was I so far along this soon? None of t h a t was making any sense....unless there was something in our genetic coding that sped things up along.
".....thank you for telling me."
"I'm shocked that you don't seem to remember me Belle."
My hands that had been playing with the gown went still and I narrowed my eyes before I tried to get a better look at his face, nothing checked out though.
"Ah, well, I didn't expect you to remember me..from the looks of things you've been through enough. Dr Jenner was just an old friend of mine and I even toured his facility often when you worked there. Tell me, I'm honestly curious....but did Jay make it?"
I finally thawed out a little bit and smiled, my fingers fluttered to my belly and I noted that he saw the small movement.
"Yeah, Jay made it but the facility blew up a long time ago. We're both as fine as we can be."
