Her grip around the strap of her body bag tightened as she hurriedly brisk walked through the dark alleyway. The only lights she could see were the lampposts at each end of the alley.

Every sound made her skin crawl a little; whether it would be the sound of a can rolling across the dirt or a loud blood-curling scream from a woman inside one of the apartment units. This kind of environment is not very familiar to her.

The humid air made her skin moist and she was itching to pull off her jacket. Her skin uncomfortably stuck to the inner lining of it and she could feel her back beginning to dampen.

It felt like the temperature was rising by the second and she found herself running out of the alleyway. Not only was the heat irritating her but she was terrified of the dark.

No, she is not terrified of the dark. She is terrified of what is in it.

Even though she is terrified of the dark, and it's already eight in the evening, she pushed herself to continue on and find the matching address written on the back of a torn receipt from the café earlier.

It took almost an hour for her to barely convince Haerin to give her the address of the infamous ginger-dyed-hair guy but has a face that seems too innocent for this world.

If it wasn't for Chanwoo telling her to give the address, she could have been there at the café right now despite the nearing late hours.

After taking a cab, which, considering the cab driver that had a huge scar on the side of his head and was sweating profusely despite the cool temperature, made her apprehensive, Serin had finally reached the front of a not-so-well-conditioned building.

From the looks of it, it looked like it was just a mere seven-storey high building that probably has a busted lift. If it even has one at all.

Serin took in a deep breath, checking twice if she had arrived at the correct place. At the back of her mind, she had imagined that he lived in a much homier place, somewhere similar to where she first caught sight of him.

She let out a sigh of relief when a lift came into view. All that running around dark sidewalks was enough to exhaust her out.

She pressed on the 4th floor, anxiously pushing down onto the 'close' button. She is not really fond of being in a lift with someone she didn't know in a place she has never been to.

The lift dinged, signaling her arrival at the floor and a small smile etched upon her lips as she neared the room number that matched the one messily scribbled down.

Her hand clenched into a fist as her knuckles gently knocked on the dark wood. The typical three knocks on the door echoed through the empty corridor just as loud as her heartbeat that was pounding against her chest.

She stood there for about 10 minutes but it seemed like hours yet she didn't hear any movement whatsoever. Everything remained quiet and still. It was hard to believe that someone still lived in here.

The tan wallpapers of the corridor walls were stained and had scratches and tears. The floors were dark shaded of chipped cement and the doors were dark and wooden with rust numbers screwed onto it.

Overall, the whole aura of the building was eerie and it didn't fail to give her the chills.

A few more minutes passed and still no one had opened the door. She hesitates a little, then reaches out and rests her hand on the doorknob. She looks down at the note and checks if she had the right address before pressing the doorknob.

To her surprise, it was unlocked and it swung right open before her.

The room was just as dim as the alleyway that she ran out of a while ago and it made her even more panicked. Her hands started to tremble when she caught sight of the television turned on but nothing was playing.

She quietly shut the door behind her and squint her eyes a little, her eyes adjusting to the sudden darkness.

Serin cringed at the smell of something burning. She could not quite pinpoint what it smelt like but it was disturbing.

She walked around the flat, quietly taking step after step as she scanned the place in the hopes of finding him. She grew more anxious by the second when the strong smell grew even stronger as she approached a door with just a fraction of a gap open.

It turns out this place is not so quiet after all. Soft beats were muffled by the barely open door. A soft glow poured out from underneath the dark wood and she grew curious.

Serin made her way towards the door, careful not to make any sound. Her heart could probably be heard from the other side of the door but that did not really matter anymore.

The door was pushed open, wide, and her eyes grew even wider when the other side was revealed.

Three, maybe four syringes littered the floor along with dark, half-empty bottles rolled around. The air was thick with smoke that she felt like she was suffocating. Various wrappers were left crumpled around the floor and the soft glow of the laptop screen illuminated what it could.

Yoongi sat at the foot of his bed, faced towards the door. He was hunched over a square-cut foil and a lighter in his other hand. A small tube was squished in between his lips and his eyes were clenched shut.

He inhaled deeply and slouched as the fumes entered his system. Instant euphoria filled his being and a happy sigh escaped past his lips. Warmth spread through his body and it felt good.

Rolling his shoulders back, he put down the foil next to him, along with the tube and lighter, not even noticing Serin's presence until she quietly uttered his name under her breath.

In the hours of the night, when all the lights are dim and the only sound you can hear is the sound of your heavy breaths, that's when you realise how much of a sad person you actually are.

"W-What are you doing?"
