CHAPTERS THEME SONG: MORNING,, KEHLANI & TEYANA TAYLOR.
TAKING A DEEP BREATH, Semaji looked Dovani up and down silently. He opened the door wider, allowing her to come in without a word.
Dovani stood in the middle of the room as Semaji closed the door and sat back in the chair close to the mix table. Picking his blunt up and relight it, they sat in silence for about two minutes until he broke the silence.
"Are you going to talk? Ain't that what you came here for?" He questioned, blowing the smoke into the air.
The faint tune of Bria's Interlude by Drake played softly in the speakers of the studio as silence took over them.
She took a deep breath before beginning to speak.
"Quincy made me feel smaller than I actually was. He made me feel like I wasn't good enough to be with him, to have his child," Semaji's jaw clenched at the thought of her being pregnant and mothering that motherfuckers child.
"He had made me feel like if I wasn't worthy of his love, then I wasn't worthy of nobody's. And it stuck with me. But once we reconnected, I was in a bad place. I had been that way for years since you left-"
"You ain't about to come and ruin my peace and blame me for leaving when we were in high school based on your in made up mind on me. If that's how this conversation gonna be, you can leave, Dovani."
"No, no. I'm not blaming you, I was just saying. When we reconnected, I was in a bad place mentally, Semaji. But you came in and you were the genuinely person I needed. Miara and Envee had their own shit and I didn't want to burden them. But here you came, I felt things with you I hadn't felt in a long time. You made my heart smile. You made me laugh. You listened to me. You were my friend and respectful, no matter what."
He looked at her with low eyes, he was high but he was sick of arguing with her. So at this given point he was just listening.
"What I'm trying to say is.. I like you, Semaji. The limo lapsed my judgement and how I was truly feeling. I was just upset about Quincy getting married and him flaunting her around like she was a cash prize won and I was the loser. I don't know why it took me so long to confront and confess my feelings for you. I guess I was just trying to figure it all out. But, in that process, I hurt you. And I'm sorry, Sem. I really am."
She said exactly what he wanted to hear. Her confessing her true and genuine feelings for him. Even if it hurt his feelings, at least she told the truth but it was what he expected from her. Semaji's parents knew he always read people good and he knew what it was with Dovani. He wasn't wrong either.
Standing up, he walked closer to her and gently grabbed her keys and purse out of her hand. He gently placed it on the table, the keys clinking together as they were placed on the glass table.
"I don't trust easily, Dovani."
"I know and I'm sorry I made you feel like you couldn't trust me at all."
