CHRISTMAS TREE BROOKLYN, NY.
[DECEMBER 9TH
1:42 PM.]THE COLD WINTER unfolded the day with a crisp, biting the breeze that carries the scent of frost in the air. The trees stood bare, their branches were coated in the heavens tears, powdered white snow.
Dovani had dragged Semaji out of his studio for a couple of hours to help her shop for Christmas decorations for her apartment. She also couldn't stay out for too long because she did have to pick her sister up from school in a couple of hours.
They weaved through the festive aisles, their laughter harmonizing with the cheerful holiday music. Glittering ornaments and twinkling lights capture their attention as they carefully select the perfect decorations. The duo debates between classic red and green or opting for a modern silver and blue theme. Excitement fills the air as they imagine the warmth these decorations will bring to their homes during the upcoming holiday season.
Singing along to the stores music choice, Christmas Party for Two by Brandy played in the overhead speakers. Dovani had chosen green, gold, and black for her decorations this year. She also had to purchase a white tree.
She had time before the actual holiday but she knew she was going to forget down the line, so choosing to start early was her best bet.
Picking up a miniature tree, she turned to Semaji who was just following her through the store with a cart in his hands. "What about this?"
"Do you like it?" She has been just picking up random items that she thinks are cute but very indecisive to whether she should buy it or not.
"I don't know, that's what you're for." She studied the small white glass tree.
"If you don't like it, don't get it."
"You are no help." Groaning, putting the tree back and continuing to stroll down the aisle.
"Dove, mama, maybe you're overthinking it. You have your colors, just shop accordingly."
"All of the decorations are pretty! Help me, choose something." She whined, clinging to his arm. He looked around and picked up these white lights in a box and handed them to her.
"Here, something simple."
Taking the box, she looked at the back pictures. "These will do." She threw them into the cart and walking farther away from the cart, going to explore other aisles.
"I don't see any green, Maji."
Before he could speak, a sales associate came up to the couple and looking between them. Her name tag read 'Sasha'.
"Are we okay over here? Are you guys looking for anything in particular?"
"Actually, she's looking for like, sage green decorations. Ornaments, anythin' you got." He looked at the lady as her smile became bigger.
