...

"HE GOT HER PREGNANT! WHAT ISNT THERE TO GET, VEE?" Dovani sniffled at the comfort of Envee on her couch at four in the morning. Dovani had to think quickly on her feet but since she couldn't run hence the obvious, she drove herself to her bestfriends house at almost midnight and couldn't get a blink of sleep since.

It had been a couple hours since Semaji broke the news to his emotional girlfriend that the manager that he swore he always kept it professional with, was pregnant for seven months and it was his. Today was supposed to be their little trip out of the state but she couldn't face him right now.Even though, they had an evening flight, since Semaji pushed it, she wasn't even sure she wanted to go.

Envee sighed, rubbing Dovani's back gently. "Girl, I get it, I do. But you gotta take a breath and think this through. You know Semaji. Has he ever lied to you before?"

Dovani wiped her eyes, her breath shaky. "No, Vee, but this... this is different. This is a baby we're talking about. I just can't wrap my head around it."

Envee nodded, understanding the depth of her friend's pain. "I get that. But remember, you two have been through a lot together. Maybe there's more to the story. Have you given him a chance to explain everything?"

Dovani shook her head. "I was too upset. I just... I needed to get out of there."

"Look," Envee said softly, "you love him, right? And he loves you. If there's even a small chance that this is a misunderstanding, you owe it to yourself to hear him out."

Dovani took a deep breath, the reality of Envee's words sinking in. "You're right. I need to hear his side. But it's just so hard."

Envee hugged her tightly. "I know, D. But you're strong. You can get through this."

Before Dovani could respond, the noises of hungry cries rang through the living room from the baby monitor that was sitting on the coffee table in front of them. She glanced at the monitor, then at Envee, who emerged from the kitchen with a bottle in hand.

"Sorry about that," Envee said, smiling apologetically. "Little girl has impeccable timing." Referring to one of her five month old twins, Kennedi.

Dovani chuckled softly, the sound of the baby's cries somehow grounding her in the moment. Envee disappeared into the next room, leaving Dovani alone to think.

The past few hours had been a whirlwind of emotions, and Dovani felt exhausted but also clearer in her thoughts. She needed to hear Semaji out and find a way to process everything that had happened. The door to the living room creaked open as Envee returned, now rocking her baby gently in her arms.
