I kneeled down and got eye level with the tray on the counter. I used the tongs to place each strawberry shortcake equal distance apart. sure it took much longer like this, but hey it looks much better. when I finished I stood up and began to put the tray in the display case.

"Hold on cutie, don't put them away just yet" I jumped and almost knocked the tray over if it wasn't for the hands that grabbed on to the tray too. I looked up to meet a pair of crystal blue eyes. He had purple dipped blonde hair, a lip ring and a sleeve of tattoos with some on his chest that I could see through his white t-shirt.

"you alright?" he asked me, smiling a bit.

"y-yeah, yeah I'm good" I licked my lips, put the tray down and tried to remember how to breathe.

"um, Calum?-" he looked down at my name tag and raised his eyebrow as I nodded, "could I get a shortcake, they're my favorites?" I furrowed my eyebrows and tilted my head a little.

"that's kinda strange" he raised his eyebrows at me. "wait no i mean it's just a little weird that your favorite is shortcakes" I tried to laugh it off until I realized how terrible that sounded. he lowered his eyebrows and his face turned into hurt as he took a step back from the counter - and away from me.

"NO no, I don't mean it like that!! i, I uh just meant that you're all tattooed and stuff, and and-you, you're super tall like how ironic that a tall person loves a shortcake, right haha, please don't - don't hate me I think you're really cute, especially since you love shortcakes they're my favorite to make and you probably look really cute eating them too wow did I just say that-" throughout the whole time I was babbling I didn't even notice him grab a shortcake, place it in a bag and drop a couple of bills on the counter.

"see you around cutie" with a wink he turned and walked out the door. I closed my eyes and tried to begin breathing again as I began to place the bills in the cash register. I was on the last bill when I noticed some writing on it:
