Natalie's momentous reunion with her friends was unbelievably heartfelt, but terribly short-lived. Adam and Barbara were back in their Astronic forms — Adam with his chrome-colored digital features, and Barbara with her aquatic skin and hair. They looked impressively sharp in their fresh battlesuits from Phesta's laboratory.
Ador pounced onto Natalie's lap and licked her across her face.
Mistress Natalie! I'm so happy to see you!
"Hey, Natalie! It's me, David!"
To Natalie's surprise, Barbara's little brother sat in Jake's chair commanding Star's defenses. Everything about him was the same except for his eyes. They were shielded by a pair of sunglasses. Radiant, white light shined out of them like a car's headlights. Upon a closer look, Natalie realized that the same light was traveling throughout David's arms and legs, almost as if lightning was pumping in his blood. It might've explained why he was able to madly tap away at the controls and eliminate dozens of Mandata warplanes in a matter of seconds.
"What?! How?! When?!" Natalie sputtered.
"Here, take this!" Adam shouted as he flew Star towards the Crusader.
He tossed Natalie the pennar. She caught it with one hand.
"We used the pennar to come back!" Barbara explained as she analyzed the unfolding battlespace on her maps.
"But . . . Star?!" Natalie asked, all befuddled.
"This is my latest model," Star answered overhead. "You saw my incomplete self when you visited Phesta. Tech and Phesta assembled me in record time five minutes ago."
