Morpheus held off on the night terrors, but Maisie couldn't stop the visions she had. She was underground in a stone chamber. Luke and another half-blood warrior were studying a map by flashlight.

Luke cursed. "It should've been the last turn." He crumpled up the map and tossed it aside.

"Sir!" his companion protested. It was dark, but he looked familiar to Maisie, though she couldn't recall meeting someone with an eyepatch.

"Maps are useless here," Luke said. " But I'll find it. As soon we have the thread, we can lead the vanguard through."

"But how will we get the thread?"

Luke stood, flexing his fingers. "Oh, Quintus will come through. All we have to do is reach the arena, and it's at the juncture, where you will prove yourself. Impossible to get anywhere without passing it. That's why we must have a truce with its master. We just have to stay alive until—"

"Sir!" a new voice came from the corridor. Another guy in Greek armor ran forward, carrying a torch.

"The dracaenae found a half-blood!"

Luke scowled. "Alone? Wandering the maze?"

"Yes, sir! You'd better come quick. They're in the next chamber. They've got him cornered."

"Who is it?"

"No one I've ever seen before, sir."

Luke nodded. "A blessing from Kronos. We may be able to use this half-blood. Come!" They ran down the corridor.

Maisie woke up with a start. A thin layer of bandages was around her torso, as well as a thicker set wrapped around her wrist. Lee informed her that the 'good news,' was that the wounds were already cauterized, so there wasn't any bleeding. The only thing that would hopefully help with the immense scarring, was time, and ambrosia.

"Just get me a spider-man bandaid and a Dr. Pepper, and I'll be good to go."

"You need water," Lee said sternly, "You're dehydrated."

"That's why Dr. Pepper has carbohydrates."

"Nice try." Lee handed her a glass of water.

Maisie looked at it sourly. She could really do with a Dr. Pepper. It seemed like the people of Texas were short on the drink.

The Stolls sat on the cot next to her, grinning and showing off the burial shroud cloth they had worked so hard on. "Chiron told us to add this," Travis said, pointing to the picture of the tree branch dripping gold. "The gold is supposed to be water from The River Lethe."

Maisie nodded, remembering her father's house was right next to the river of gold. "And you guys decided to add the poppy flowers?" she asked, pointing to the sloppy orange and yellow circles. Poppy flowers were also a symbol of Hypnos.
