Percy sat bolt upright in the Lamborghini's drivers seat. Grover was shaking his arm.
"Percy," he said. "It's morning. The train's gonna stop soon. Come on."
Percy tried to shake off his drowsiness. Outside were snowy mountains dotted with pine trees, the sun rising red between two peaks. He fished his pen out of his pocket and stared at it. Anaklusmos, the Ancient Greek name for Riptide. A different form, but Percy was sure it was the same blade he'd seen in his dream. Just like he was sure that the girl in his dream had been Zoe Nightshade.
Percy rubbed his eyes and looked around the Lambo. "Where's Mae?"
Grover blinked. "Uh, I haven't seen her. I was asleep before you guys got back. Did she stay with Thalia?"
Percy shook his head. "No. She was here last night and then..." His eyes widened and he spread his arms out, hitting the window and glove compartment to gain Grover's attention.
"What?" Grover said.
"Fred."
"Fred?"
"Apollo."
"What about Apollo?"
"He was here!" Percy insisted. "And then he snapped his fingers and I fell asleep." He scrambled out of the car.
Grover fought to catch up. "Percy, Apollo did not take Maisie," he assured, practically reading Percy's mind. "Why would he?"
"Because he liked her chivalry," Percy hissed.
Grover rolled his eyes. "She's here somewhere." He looked around. "...There?" He pointed to the open cargo train door. A pair of legs were swinging back and forth overhead. Someone was sitting a top the moving train.
Percy recognized the red converse with scribbles of stars on the midsoles. "Oh."
The other girls were exiting their cars, yawning. "Uh, who lost their legs?" Thalia asked.
Percy walked toward the open cargo door.
"Don't scare her," Grover chided.
Percy ignored him. He jumped up and hit Maisie's foot, earning a yelp of surprise that made him snort.
The legs disappeared from sight before a blonde head appeared upside down looking into the train. "Oh. Hi."
"What are you doing up there?" Percy asked.
Maisie, still upside down, held out a small little radio in her hand. "I lost signal last night, so I came out here."
"How'd you get up?"
"Ladder," she pointed. "I think we're stopping soon."
"Yeah, we know," Thalia said. "So get down from there would you? And try not to kill yourself, while you're at it."
