Nicks pov:
*three months later, so Charlie's like 5 months pregnant*
I stood in the middle of what would soon be our babies' nursery, a blank canvas waiting to be filled with warmth and love.
First things first, I rolled up my sleeves and got to work assembling the cots. The instructions seemed straightforward enough, but I couldn't help but feel a surge of nerves.
This was real. We were going to be parents, and it was up to us to create a home filled with love and happiness.
As I unpacked the pieces of the babies' cots, I couldn't help but feel a surge of excitement mixed with a touch of nerves.
This wasn't just any piece of furniture I was assembling; it was the first tangible step towards welcoming our children into the world.
Charlie had been so excited when we picked out the cots together, his eyes lighting up as he imagined our babies sleeping soundly inside.
And now, as I laid out the pieces on the floor of the nursery, I was filled with a sense of purpose unlike anything I had ever felt before.
With each screw tightening and each piece put into place, I found myself thinking about the life that Charlie and I were creating together.
We've already told everyone the gender of our babies, me, and charlie are just figuring out a name now, we have a few name ideas, but we are still slightly unsure
I glanced over at Charlie, who was sitting in a nearby chair, watching me with a soft smile on his face.
His presence filled me with warmth, grounding me in the reality of our love and our shared journey.
Third person:
"Need any help?" Charlie asked, leaning against the doorframe.
Nick looked up, a soft smile gracing his lips. "I've got it, but thanks. You can sit and just keep me company if you want."
The room was filled with the soft hum of Nick's concentration, broken only by the occasional sound of wood against wood.
As Nick worked, Charlie couldn't help but feel a surge of warmth in his chest. Here was the man he loved, preparing for their future together. It was a future they had dreamed of, a future they had fought for.
"You know," Charlie began, breaking the silence, "I still can't believe this is happening. Twins"
Nick glanced up, his eyes meeting Charlie's. "Yeah, it's pretty surreal. But in the best possible way."
Charlie smiled, reaching out to gently squeeze Nick's hand. "I'm just grateful to have you by my side through all of this."
Nick returned the squeeze, his smile widening. "I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
They fell into a comfortable silence once more, the only sound the soft click of screws being tightened. As Nick finished assembling the cots, he stepped back to admire his handiwork.
"There," he said, satisfaction evident in his voice. "All done."
Charlie got up from his chair and walked over to join Nick. Together, they stood side by side, looking down at the cots that would soon hold their children.
"It's perfect," Charlie whispered, his voice filled with awe.
Nick wrapped an arm around Charlie's waist, pulling him close. "Just like our family is going to be."
Charlie leaned into the embrace, feeling a rush of gratitude and love wash over him.
Nicks pov:
As I surveyed the room, I envisioned our little one laughing and playing in here, surrounded by colors and shapes that would stimulate their imagination.
I wanted this space to be perfect, a sanctuary where our children would feel safe and cherished.
With the furniture in place, it was time to add the personal touches that would make this room uniquely ours.
I unpacked boxes filled with onesies, blankets, and stuffed animals, i let charlie carefully arrange them around the room as his OCD could play up if i do it in a way he wouldn't like.
Each item held a special meaning, a token of love from friends and family eagerly awaiting the arrival of our little one.
I smiled as I hung up the mobile above the cots, me and charlie watching it twirl gently in the breeze from the open window. The soft melody it played was soothing, a lullaby for our babies' dreams.
Charlie went downstairs for a rest. He's been kinda quiet down there. He's probably fallen asleep. He deserves it as he hasn't had much with morning sickness
Next, I turned my attention to the walls. We had spent hours pouring over paint samples, trying to find the perfect shade for our nursery. In the end, we settled on a soft shade of yellow, a nice warm tone
As I dipped the paintbrush into the can, I couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building inside me.
This was more than just a room; it was a labour of love, a testament to our commitment to each other and to our growing family.
Hours later, the walls were painted, the furniture assembled, and every last detail in place. I stepped back to admire my handiwork, feeling a sense of pride wash over me.
This room was ready, waiting for the moment when we would bring our baby home for the first time.
I was content to bask in the quiet beauty of this room, a haven of love and happiness for our growing family.
