Third person:
*a month later*
The morning sun gently bathed the quiet neighbourhood in warm light as Nick and Charlie prepared for their long-awaited family outing with their twins, Lily and Oakley.
The air was filled with a sense of excitement and anticipation as they meticulously packed the nappy bag, ensuring they had everything they could possibly need for a day out with their precious little ones.
"Are you all set, Oakley? Lily?" Nick cooed, his voice filled with tenderness as he adjusted Oakley's hat and straightened Lily's tiny bow.
Charlie smiled, a surge of pride swelling in his chest as he surveyed his family. "They look adorable. Let's head over to Grandma Sarah's."
With the babies snugly nestled in their car seats, they set off on the short journey to Sarah's house. The atmosphere inside the car was charged with excitement, punctuated by the sweet sounds of baby chatter and laughter.
Lily's infectious giggles blended harmoniously with Oakley's gentle cooing, creating a symphony of joy that filled the car with warmth.
Upon arriving at Sarah's doorstep, their excitement reached a crescendo as Sarah greeted them with open arms.
Her eyes sparkled with delight as she welcomed her grandchildren, her heart overflowing with love for the tiny bundles in front of her.
"Come in, come in! My precious darlings, how you've grown!" Sarah exclaimed, her voice filled with joy as she ushered them inside.
Nick and Charlie exchanged proud smiles as they watched Lily and Oakley interact with their grandmother.
Sarah's love enveloped them, filling the room with a sense of warmth and belonging that washed over them like a comforting embrace.
Lily eagerly reached for Sarah's hands, her eyes shining with excitement as she explored her grandmother's face. Oakley, ever the observer, watched the scene unfold with quiet curiosity, his gaze moving from one person to the next with thoughtful intent.
As the day progressed, Sarah doted on her grandchildren, revelling in their every coo and giggling. She sang them songs, played with them, and showered them with affection, her heart overflowing with love for her precious grandbabies.
Throughout the day, Nick and Charlie couldn't help but notice the differences between Lily and Oakley's behaviour.
While Lily thrived in the spotlight, soaking up every ounce of attention, Oakley remained content to observe from the sidelines, his expressions more subdued.
During a rare moment of quiet, Sarah pulled Nick and Charlie aside, her brow furrowed with concern. "I couldn't help but notice that Oakley seems to be a bit more reserved than Lily. Have you noticed anything unusual in his behaviour?"
Nick and Charlie exchanged a worried glance, their hearts heavy with concern for their son. They had attributed Oakley's quiet demeanour to his personality, but now they couldn't shake the feeling that something might be amiss.
"We've noticed that he's a bit more introspective than Lily," Charlie admitted, his voice tinged with worry.
Sarah nodded, her eyes filled with understanding. "It's always best to trust your instincts when it comes to your children. Perhaps it's worth mentioning to his paediatrician just to be safe."
Nick and Charlie thanked Sarah for her concern, their minds whirling with worry as they drove home with Lily and Oakley sleeping peacefully in the backseat. As they settled into their evening routine, they couldn't shake the feeling that their family's journey was about to take an unexpected turn.

As they arrived home, the sun began its descent, casting a warm glow over the neighbourhood. Nick and Charlie carefully carried their sleeping twins into the house, their hearts heavy with concern for Oakley.
They laid the babies down in their cribs, tucking them in with gentle care before retreating to the living room to talk.
"I can't shake the feeling that something might be wrong with Oakley," Nick confessed, his voice filled with worry as he sank onto the couch beside Charlie.
Charlie nodded, his brow furrowed with concern. "I know what you mean. He's always been quieter than Lily, but today... it just felt different. Do you think we should schedule an appointment with his paediatrician?"
Nick sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I think it might be a good idea. It's better to be safe than sorry, especially when it comes to our little boy."
With a heavy heart, they made the decision to call Oakley's paediatrician first thing in the morning to express their concerns and schedule an appointment.
Despite their worry, they tried to focus on the positive moments of the day—the joyous laughter, the tender moments shared with Sarah, and the love that filled their home.
The night passed slowly, the worry weighing heavily on Nick and Charlie's minds as they tossed and turned in bed. Thoughts raced through their heads as they anxiously awaited the morning and the answers it might bring.
A/N:
