Nicks pov:
Excitement buzzed in the air as Charlie and I prepared for our family trip to the zoo. We had been looking forward to this outing for weeks, eager to introduce Oakley and Lily to the wonders of the animal kingdom.
The morning sun cast a warm glow through the windows as we bustled around the house, gathering supplies and making final preparations.
Oakley and Lily perched in their highchairs, observed our activities with keen interest, and their eyes darted around the room as they took in the bustling scene.
"Right, let's make sure we've got everything we need," I said, scanning the checklist charlie had meticulously prepared the night before.
Charlie nodded, a determined expression on his face as he double-checked the contents of the nappy bag. "Nappies, wipes, bottles, formula, change of clothes... everything seems to be in order."
I smiled at him, grateful for his attention to detail. "Don't forget the suncream. It's going to be a scorcher out there today."
Charlie nodded and disappeared into the bathroom to retrieve the sunscreen while I turned my attention to the stroller, ensuring it was clean and in good working order for our adventure.
Meanwhile, Oakley and Lily observed our preparations with wide-eyed curiosity, occasionally babbling to each other in their own secret language. I couldn't help but marvel at how much they had grown in just six short months, their personalities shining through with each passing day.
"Alright, I think we're just about ready to go," Charlie said, returning with the sunscreen in hand. "Are you two excited to see some animals today?"
Oakley let out a happy gurgle, his chubby arms reaching out towards Charlie. Lily clapped her hands together, her face lighting up with excitement.
"It looks like someone's ready for our zoo adventure," I remarked, reaching out to ruffle Lily's hair affectionately.
With one final sweep of the house to ensure we hadn't forgotten anything, we loaded Oakley and Lily into their car seats and headed out the door, the car filled with anticipation for the day ahead.
As we drove to the zoo, Oakley and Lily babbled happily in the backseat, their eyes wide with wonder as they took in the passing scenery. Charlie and I exchanged a proud smile, our hearts swelling with love for our twins.
"Are you excited to see the animals, Oakley?" I signed, glancing back at my son through the rearview mirror.
Oakley responded with an enthusiastic nod, his hands fluttering excitedly in sign language. Lily joined in with her own signs, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
As we approached the zoo, I couldn't help but feel a sense of anticipation building in my chest. I was ready for a day filled with adventure and discovery, with Oakley and Lily by our side every step of the way.
And, as we pulled into the zoo car park, our hearts were filled with excitement for the magical day ahead. We couldn't wait to see the wonder and joy on our twins' faces as they embarked on their zoo adventure
