"My lady I beg you to stop pacing; it is not good for the baby." Guinevere stated watching her queen in worry. The queen's been restless for weeks at least since after Arthur's departure.

(y/n) stopped her pacing and turned to face Gwen. "You're right, I just can't stop thinking about him—what if something's happened—what if—what if he's dead?" She asks worriedly. "I haven't heard anything from him or Merlin in days." She confesses, finally taking a seat to rest her sore feet.

Gwen smirks and reaches a hand out to take (y/n)'s. "It is battle, my lady; not a casual stroll in the garden. They may not have a moment's rest to write you." Guinevere offers calmly.

The queen nibbled on the inside of her cheek in thought, knowing that her servant was right. She looked down at the ring on her finger before letting out a sigh. "I just want him here back home in Camelot. I miss him more each day." She says sadly placing her hand over her belly.

The two women sit in silence as Gwen had retrieved a book for the queen to read instead of pacing. It appeared to have worked as she was kept busy, her eyes zipping across the page. That is until a ruckus from outside made the queen and her servant turn their heads to the window. "Gwen see what all the fuss is about, will you?" (y/n) asks kindly and Gwen stands up and walks to the window and looks down.

She noted a large group of knights riding to the stables. She notices a man in brown clothes and a red scarf. Next to him she saw the Pendragon crest on the head knights chest signifying who it was. "It's the king, my lady." Guinevere calls to her queen.

"Arthur?" (y/n) questions before she is up and downstairs to greet them when they arrive. When Arthur dismounted from his horse he looked around. When his eyes caught side of his queen his heart thumped louder and quicker in his chest.

It felt like they'd been separated for a lifetime.

When Arthur saw (y/n) he immediately pulled off his helmet, revealing his dirty face. She rushed toward him as he dropped his helmet to the ground. He held his arms out for her and she rushed into them.

He held her as they stared at each other; he brushed a lock of hair from her face and cupped her cheek. "I've missed you, (y/n)." Arthur whispered, his forehead resting against her own.

"oh Arthur, I was so scared—" She said on the verge of tears but he wouldn't let them fall. His hand fell from her face to her belly in an instant.

"My love, you thought I would leave you and our child behind?" He asks, "you can't get rid of me that easy." He jokes and she let out a strangled laugh before her head separates from his.

"No I suppose not." She admits before her hand went up to his cheek. She felt the dirt and grime underneath her fingertips, but at that moment she didn't care. She was with her husband and the love of her life once again, and nothing else seemed to matter. "I'm glad you're back." She confesses.

She feels him smile, "It's good to be back." He admits.

Her lips quirked up softly at his words, "well then let me be the first to say—welcome home." She says before she leans in and he does too, pressing her lips to his.
