Arthur fidgeted with his ring as he stared in anguish at the vacant throne to his right. He had been without his wife for two months. She had been taken prisoner after a siege on the castle.

Arthur hadn't been able to sleep in your chambers; it brought too many painful memories to mind. Arthur instead slept in his throne, as it was uncomfortable enough to where he would not dream of you.

He had become incredibly short with everyone, Merlin especially. He would lash out unexpectedly, so much so that nobody even wanted to be in the same room as him.

He had sent out his best knights to search for you. But he had had no word from Leon in the past week. But when Merlin rushed into the room unannounced one day, he brought with him a letter of good news.

Arthur snatched the letter from his servants hand nearly giving him a paper cut. He unfolded it and began to read. Written as clear as day were four words that gave Arthur the hope he had not had in weeks.

The Queen is Found!

Arthur sprang from his throne and hugged Merlin unexpectedly. He then quickly ran down to the entrance and waited for his knights return. Once he saw the chainmail clad men on the horizon, Arthur buzzed with anticipation.

He couldn't wait to see you! He would hold you and never ever let you out of his sight again if he could help it

He couldn't wait to see you! He would hold you and never ever let you out of his sight again if he could help it. He couldn't afford to lose you again, his heart couldn't take it.

What the note failed to mention was that you were knocked out as you were lying across a horse's back like a hunted animal. Arthur rushed toward your unconscious body and turned to Leon for answers.

"She wouldn't let us take her willingly, sire; she'd go into hysterics every time we tried." Leon told his king whose eyes widened as Leon continued, "it was as if she didn't recognize us at all." He said.

Arthur could do nothing but nod, before turning to face Merlin. "Make sure she gets to Gaius unharmed." He tells his manservant who nods. He knew Merlin would keep his sister safe.

Once he knew you were safely inside did Arthur rush to his chambers. Chambers he had not entered in what felt like years.
