Your son sat at your bedside and stroked your cheek, like you had done so many nights when he was a boy. You smiled at him softly, "are you scared mother?" Your son asked. His wife, Annalise sat next to him rubbing his shoulders in comfort.

You shook your head, "I do not fear death, my son. Because I know it will reunite me with, my Arthur." You tell him. "I've been separated from him for far too long; your grown my son." You say with a smile, your eyes glancing toward Annalise, "you have a beautiful family—you no longer need me." You say as you reach your hand up with little strength you had and cupped your son's cheek.

"I'll always need you, mumma." He said holding your hand to his cheek turning to kiss your hand softly, "I'll make you proud, mum." He promised.

You smiled, "you already have—my son." You say before a light overcame your body and you let it consume you.

When the light faded away you found yourself on the shore of a rocky bank; but you knew exactly where you were. You had only ever heard stories about the beauty that was Avalon and now here you finally were.

"I see time has been kind to you!" You hear a voice call out behind you.

You whip your head around hearing the voice you had only heard in your dreams for so long. Meeting those same blue eyes that shined in your son you broke out into a smile. Breaking into a run you tackled the man into the sand.

The two of you laughed as you fell on top of him. You peppered kisses all over his face in reunion; you had been separated from the man for almost four decades, you needed this. He held your face in his hands and got a good look at you. "You're as beautiful as I remember." He complimented, stroking your cheek softly with his finger.

You laugh, "you are still such a liar, Arthur Pendragon." You say with a chuckle, knowing how old you must look to him.

He smiles, "I'm not lying—you will forever be beautiful to me, (y/n) Pendragon, no matter how old." He admits.

You smile down at him and lean down pressing your lips to his. The passion, the love between you two had never left, in fact it grew stronger. You kissed as though you had all the time in the world, which you supposed—now you did. You could kiss him forever and never tire of his lips on yours.

"I've missed you, Arthur." You whisper against his lips.

He gleamed up at you, "and I you." He replied, pressing his lips back to yours. You pulled back however and sat on the sand next to him. He pulled you in close and kissed your forehead, and despite being reunited with your true love, you missed your son, and grandchildren.

"What is it?" Arthur asked sensing your saddened state.

"I just miss someone from Camelot that's all." You admit putting on a fake smile.

"You mean William, Lizabeth, and Arthur?" He asks. You look over at him in confusion.

"Yeah, how did you—"

Arthur just chuckled, "you didn't think I didn't know about our son and grandchildren did you? Follow me." He says getting up and holding out his hand which you took. He lead you back to the shoreline, "ask to see anything, anything you wish to see." He instructed and you do so.

"William Pendragon!" You call and the water begins to ripple and as it settles an image appears in the water. It was of your son that looked like what you pictured Arthur would look like had he not died in battle so young. He was still crying at your bedside but Annalise was holding him as he sobbed.

She was a good woman and you had gotten on with her nicely. In personality she had reminded you of Arthur, just as your son reminded you of yourself. You knew your kingdom would flourish under their rule, just as it had for a short while with you and Arthur so many years ago.

"You raised our son, a good man, (y/n); you should be proud." Arthur says as he watched you watch your son.

"I am." You tell him, "after you died, he was the only good thing in my life; he was all I had left of you." You admit, "gosh he looked so much like you growing up sometimes I thought it was you." You say.

"Well he may have gotten my looks, but he certainly got your personality." He admits. You smile and brush your hand over the waters surface and it rippled again and the image disappeared. "I kept watch over you and William, for decades, it made me feel alive again, knowing I could still be apart of his life and yours, even if it had to be from afar."

You smiled, "I used to talk about you all the time to him; tell him stories so he'd go to sleep." You admit, "I'd tell him everything, anything I could possibly remember about you."

His face grew sad, "I'm sorry I couldn't be there for you." He apologized and you just shook your head.

"It's not your doing, it's Mordred's and Morgana's." You hiss the names as though they were poison on your lips.

Arthur sighed, "I know, but I still left you pregnant and alone."

"You didn't leave me alone, Arthur; before you died you gave me the greatest gift you could have given me—you gave me a piece of you, you gave me our son." You remind him turning around and cupping his cheek. He closed his eyes and leaned into your touch, "I was never alone, Merlin was always there too; William loved his uncle Merlin, he'd tell him stories about how much of a dollop head his father was." You say happily and Arthur chuckled.

"Of course he did." Arthur said with annoyance. He smiled and looked into your eyes. You look up at him too and lean closer and he leans closer too. But before his lips could brush against yours you pull back and start rushing toward the water.

"You gotta catch me first!" You call back. You ran into the water, feeling like a young girl again. Arthur watched from the shore in surprise as you didn't realize what was happening to you.

When you stopped running after realizing Arthur was not following you, you looked down at the water. You gasped at your reflection, every wrinkle, every sagging piece of skin was gone. You looked like you once had in your 20's. You turned to face Arthur and he smirked, "you haven't aged a day, my love." He joked and you giggled, your voice having returned to what it once was in your youth. "The magic of the water must have de-aged you—not that I'm complaining." He said, staring at you with desire.

You smile as you held out your hand for him to take. He smiles as he wades into the water and takes you into his arms. You wrap your arms around him and felt like you were finally home; Arthur was your home.

Arthur held you like he would never let you go, and he knew he never would. He had waited so many years to be able to reunite with you, he had almost gone mad. But you were finally back in his arms; now he never had to part with you ever again. He leaned his head into your no longer greying locks and sighed in relief. You two could finally make up for all the years you'd lost.
