Prompt: Arthur gets deathly hurt and knowing you couldn't lose your husband and father of your child you used your magic to save him. When Arthur learns of your use of magic, how does he react?

After a siege on the castle you ran to Gaius's chambers. Arthur was lain across the table with his armor removed. A large gash on his abdomen was being wrapped by the physician. "Your majesty!" Merlin calls in surprise having turned around to see you at the door.

"You shouldn't be here, (y/n)." He says nodding toward your stomach which had a very prominent bump.

You scoff, "frankly, I'd like to see you try and keep me away, Merlin. That's my husband and the father of my child laying on that table; you'd do well to remember that." You hiss walking past the stunned servant and to your husband's side.

"How is he, Gaius?" You ask the physician, taking your husband's limp hand in your own.

He gave you a grim expression, "he's not responding to the treatment your majesty. It's as though my treatment is being rejected by his body."

"Be honest, how long does he have, Gaius?" You ask him as you stroked Arthur's cheek. Your husband shook softly under your touch, and whimpered in pain, "I'm here, Arthur; shh! I'm right here." You whisper softly to calm him which appears to work.

"If his body continues to reject the treatment, he'll have less than a day at best I'm afraid." Gaius notifies.

You nod in understanding but continuing to keep your composure. "I was afraid of that; may I be with him alone for a moment?" You ask and both men leave silently. You turn back to face your husband. "You're not leaving me to raise this baby alone, Arthur Pendragon." You say heartbroken yet determined. You stare at your hand, "please work." You whisper.

You hadn't used your magic in so long you wondered if you still knew how? You hadn't needed to use your magic the last few years and so you hadn't. It wasn't something you necessarily needed to survive, you had grown up human most of your life after all.

Your hand illuminated blue as you hovered it over his wrapped wound. Arthur started groaning in pain as the magic began to heal the wound. His eyes popped open for a split second as he took in a deep breath. His eyes locked with you and saw your eyes glowing a vibrant blue.

But the pain grew excruciating and he fell unconscious once again, just as his wound closed up. Your eyes returned to normal just as the door was pushed open.

"WHAT DID YOU DO?" Merlin called rushing over to check Arthur's wound only to find it completely healed.

"I did what I had to." You express, "I couldn't just let him die, Merlin. You heard Gaius—his body was rejecting treatment." You hiss, "you and Gaius may have been willing to let him die, but I wasn't." You say.

"What exactly is your plan? He's going to wonder how he healed so fast, my dear." Gaius states.

"Then I guess I have no choice—I'll tell him the truth." You say, "he's my husband and the father of my child, he deserves to know." You admit, "better to hear it from me now—rather than our child who may inherit my powers later." You tell the two.

"(y/n), he'll kill you." Merlin says.

You shake your head, "if it was Uther there would be no doubt; but Arthur is not his father." You say, "I believe he is more open-minded than you give him credit for, Merlin." You admit.

Merlin sighs, "—and if he's not?" He asks you.

"Then I'll face the consequences, if there be any." You say, knowing that there was a slim chance that Arthur would follow in his father's footsteps; however it was rather unlikely.

Arthur stirred in his sleep and you told both men to leave. If you had to confront Arthur, you wanted to do it alone. Both men looked at you hopeful, wishing you good luck without words before leaving.

Not a moment later Arthur's eyes popped open and he looked around, "(y/-y/n)?" Arthur whispered and you smiled and nodded.

"Take it easy, I'm here, i'm here; are you alright?" You ask stroking his blonde hair back from his face softly.

"You—you had—you had magic—how?" He asks unbelieving, perhaps in the hope that he had just been delusional and dreamed the whole thing. But one look down at his wound-free chest he knew it hadn't been a dream.

You sigh, "i'll tell you everything—but you have to promise not to freak out, okay?" You ask of him.

He nods, "I—I promise." He promised.

You sighed out a breath as you touched your bump hoping your child would give you strength to speak. You closed your eyes for a moment before opening them to look into Arthur's. "I'm descended from magic." You confirm. "My father was human—my mother was a fae, I'm half fae." You reveal to Arthur whose eyes promptly grew larger with each word you uttered.

"I was born human like all fae children; my mother was killed shortly after in the war on magic. My father raised me like a human child which I was for a good portion of my life. But when I was 12 my father died and that's when my powers started showing?" You explain, "Gaius found me starving and half dead a year later and took me in and you know the rest." You finish.

Arthur was trying to consume all of that information at once. He had known you since he was 13 years old. You had been the closest thing he had to a friend; you were after all the only person who could put up with him half the time.
But when he was 16 he had seen you one day and never even glanced in another woman's direction after that. He thought he had known you, but he soon realized he didn't know the real you at all. His pregnant wife, who he had trusted more than anyone; had kept this big of a secret from him all this time.

Arthur let out a breath of air, "that's a lot to think about." He said as if he were out of breath. "Why—why didn't you tell me?" He asked sounding hurt.

You cocked your head, "how could I? Your father hated anything magic-related, and he raised you to be the same." You remind him, "Arthur, I was scared."

"Of me?" He asked looking up at you with heartbroken eyes.

"I didn't know if your love for me would be enough for you to go against your father's teachings, so I hid it from you." You explain. "I didn't want people to look at me differently."

"Including me?" He asked.

"Especially you." You say with tears in your eyes, "Arthur, I've spent half my life being in love with you, I've been in love with you since I was 13 years old and arrived in Camelot. But I thought I could never be with you; not only because I was a commoner, but because I had the one thing your father hated above all else." You admit.

"Magic." He answered and you nodded.

"It was just safer to pretend I was still human. But Arthur I promise I never used magic when we were together—minus today." You say, "my feelings for you have always been genuine. But I understand if you don't trust or love me anymore." You say looking down with tears in your eyes, "but I couldn't let you die—whether you still love me or not." You whisper.

You feel his hand cover yours that resided on your bump and you looked up. "While I'm still angry that you lied to me, I understand why you did." He admits, taking my hand and placing a kiss on the back of it. "But it doesn't change the fact that you're my wife, the mother of my child, and the love of my life." Arthur tells you and you feel as though a great wait lifted from your shoulders. Arthur still loved you!

"You still love me?" You ask sniffling. Arthur just chuckles leaning up and swiping under your eyes.

"You saved my life, (y/n)." Arthur said, "I fell in love with you because of who you are; not what you are. You're still my (y/n), magic or not—of course I still love you." He said leaning closer and resting his forehead against yours, "and nothing could ever change that." He whispers before pressing his lips to your own.
