You had been betrothed to Arthur Pendragon since you were 2 years old. King Uther and your parents had been allies since before the war on magic. Every summer from the time you were 5 years old you spent in Camelot, getting to know your betrothed better. Despite both knowing you would one day wed, you became instant friends.
You would spend your days stealing pastries from the palace kitchens. Riding through the countryside as far as your horse would take you. Sometimes you would even accompany Arthur while he trained with the other knights.
But because it was frowned upon for a girl to know sword fighting, Arthur would train with you late at night.
It was on your 16th birthday that you finally won against him. Your sword was aimed at his throat, "do you yield, sire?" You ask him.
He smiled and nodded, "yes, milady...I yield." He says before you remove the blade from his direction. That is when he used his blade to trip you. You fell to the ground and you winced in pain as you held your ankle.
Arthur instantly dropped his sword and came to check on you, "I am so sorry, (y/n); I didn't mean—" Arthur began to apologize when you dropped your ankle and pinned him to the ground with your sword.
You giggled, "ha—I win again." You gloat.
His mouth fell open, "...no you didn't, you cheated." He said with a pout, clearly unhappy about falling for that.
You smiled, "I did no such thing, it's called knowing your opponent. No offense but you're pretty predictable." You express.
He scoffs before realizing how close the two of you had gotten. He raised his eyebrow, "if I were truly predictable would I do this?" He asked before he pressed his lips to yours.
You gasped in surprise as he kissed you as you had never been kissed. How could you? You had been engaged to the boy you were currently kissing since you were 2, which left not much room to flirt with anyone else.
Not that you didn't try with Sir Leon who was a few years older. You never did it for an ulterior motive, Sir Leon was far too oblivious to notice your flirting. You simply flirted with him to get a reaction out of Arthur...which usually worked.
After your lips separated you caught your breath as Arthur just stared at you. "You could not possibly understand how long I've wanted to do that?" He whispers.
You smile, "I would be lying if I said I hadn't waited very long for you to do that." You admit. "I love you, Arthur." You whisper.
Arthur smiled, "and I you." He admits.

You spent the next 5 years courting each other. When you were apart you would write to each other often. He would keep you updated with life in Camelot, he'd write you of his adventures and he only wished you could have been there to experience them with him.
But when summer rolled around he would always be the first person to greet you once you arrived. His arms wrapped around you and he lifted you into the air spinning you around. "The prettiest jewel in all of Camelot has returned." He'd declare and you'd just giggle, which would quickly be silenced by pressing his lips to yours in greeting.
A few days after settling in you were walking along the halls when you saw Guinevere peering out a window. "What are you staring at, Gwen?" You asked her and she turned before beckoning you over.
"You should probably come see this, milady." She says and you walk over and glance down only to see Arthur. He was throwing daggers at a target that a poor servant boy was lugging around. You gasped in horror, you may have loved Arthur, but that didn't mean you loved everything he did.
