BROKEN WATERS CHAPTER 23

Lilly lay in bed asleep under the covers. Another cannular was now in her other hand which had some clear fluids going into her body as she was unable to drink water because every time, she tried she was just extremely sick. She also had some anti sickness medication also flowing into her body. All the medications made her drowsy as she lay beneath the layers of sheets to keep her warm.

Roman and Price stood outside of Lilly's room. "Just warning you this might shock you" said Price as he opened the door to find the nurse standing besides her checking her observations. "Her temperature has only gone down a tad and I've put her on some fluids" explained the nurse as Roman darted towards the bed where Lilly lay. "Oh my god! What's wrong with her?" asked Roman noting all the fluids going into her body as he reached for her hand. "Lilly?" he called as Price looked at him, "She needs to rest" said Price as Roman continued to hold her hand. "Lilly, I'm sorry, I'm never leaving you again" he cried as he looked at Price "Are you going to tell me, what's wrong with her?" Roman said in a harsher tone. "She's got an infection" explained Price as he put his hand on Roman's shoulder. "How?" asked Roman as Price lifted the sheets covering Lilly to reveal her stomach. "Fuck!" shouted Roman as he moved away from Lilly's bed looking at the bump on her stomach. "How long?" asked Roman as he looked at Price who was still stood by Lilly's bed. "27 weeks, Roman" said Price with worry as he continued to speak "She didn't know, she was Pregnant Roman" he explained as Roman moved back to her bed stroking her hair. "Lilly, I love you" said Roman as Lilly remained asleep as Price looked at Roman. "We need to keep her here, until the baby is born "explained Price. "Why?" asked Roman with confusion. "This baby is killing her, Roman, she's got a half Upir growing inside of her" said Price as Roman looked down at Lilly's stomach rubbing his hand on it. "She's half Upir" said Roman looking over to Price. "I know, Oliva told me" explained Price. "Are you trying to say that her Human side is going to be gone" asked Roman with great concern. "That's even if her Upir side survives "explained Price. "Shut up!" said Roman as he sat down on a chair that was besides the bed as Price started to leave the room to go get some more meds for Lilly. Roman reached for Lillys hand and kissed it. "I'm never going to leave you alone again, I love you" said Roman as Lilly's hand twitched. "Roman" gasped Lilly as the words left her mouth. "Lilly, I'm sorry" he said as he stroked her arm as she dosed back off to sleep.

It was now reaching the end of Lilly's pregnancy and she had barely moved since she was rushed in after she collapsed in the bathroom back at home. Roman spent most of the days with her whilst he also made time for his work. He would even sit doing some of his work sat with Lilly as he didn't want to leave Lilly by herself for long periods. The only time he would leave would be if he needed a drink of blood to soother his energy levels or if he had to do his work in his office.

Lilly was now sitting up reading a book whilst Roman was doing some of his paperwork. "How are you feeling today?" asked Price as he entered the room with a clipboard. "My back really hurts, and I feel sick." explained Lilly as she put down her book and looked at Roman. "Can you help me up?" asked Lilly as Price looked at her with great confusion. "You're in no fit state to move right now" explained Price as Roman nodded with agreement as Lilly felt the movement of her baby in her stomach.

Lilly slumbered backwards into the softness of her pillow as the baby began kicking her intensely. It was normal for the baby to kick every now and then, but something felt different as she started yelling in pain. "Ow..ow!" she cried as Roman put down his laptop and grabbed Lilly's hand. "Your okay, babe" he said in a soft voice as he kissed her hand. Price stood by the door writing on his clip board as Lilly felt wetness spiral within her sheets. "Roman, I think my waters have broken" she gasped as he lifted the sheets finding that the sheets were in fact lingering with wetness. "Price!" shouted Roman as Price pushed the alarm button. "We need to take her down to theatre now!" demanded Price as he started taking the breaks off the bed as he started wheeling her down the corridor. Roman remained walking beside her holding her hand. "Your going to be okay" he said to her as she left the corridor entering theatre when one of the surgeons who were waiting by the theatre entrance stopped Roman. "I'm really sorry Mr Godfrey , but you can't come in here" she calmly explained in a professional manner. Roman stood and clenched his fists which hung besides him "What do you mean, I can't come with her!" snapped Roman. "I'm sorry sir" as she closed the door when Roman felt a hand on his shoulder. It was Peter. "What the fuck are you doing here?" asked Roman as Peter stood looking at him with concern. "I heard about what happened and I wanted to make sure your both ok" explained Peter whilst Roman sat on a chair that was against the wall. "It took you long enough" said Roman in a harsher manner.

Roman and Peter hadn't really spoke since they had a massive argument which caused Peter to leave town for a period as he wanted to focus on his emotional health and his wellbeing. Roman still had a gut feeling that Peter wasn't a hundred percent Human either but he wasn't an Upir. "The rumours in school were true then?" asked Roman as Peter sat next to him. "That doesn't matter right now, you need to focus on Lilly" explained Peter as Roman drew his own fingers through his hair as he then reached for a packet of cigarettes that sat in his blazer pocket. He offered Peter a cigarette, "No thanks" he said as Roman selected a cigarette out of the packet and placed it between his lip whilst then starting to ignite it with a lighter. "Can you even, smoke in here?" asked Peter as Roman took a drag of his cigarette. "I'm the boss, I can do whatever I like" explained Roman in a harsher tone. "Then why don't you go see what's happening?" asked Peter when Roman then stood to his feet and started passing backwards and forwards in the room they were waiting in.

A woman, one of the surgeons burst through the doors as Roman then put out his cigarette and placed it in the bin. "Is she awake?" asked Roman as the surgeon looked at the two of them. "Just follow me" said the surgeon as the two were then led into the room where Lilly was sleeping on the operating table. There was still blood on the floor from the birth and Lillys baby could be heard crying in the room next door. "Is she going to be, ok?" asked Roman as some other surgeons started transferring her on to a bed.

They were now in another room and Lilly still slept in the bed which was now clean and fresh as the sheets were soon changed after the wetness was on them before. Price entered the room, "Roman can I talk to you outside a sec" he begged as he held the door open as Roman stepped outside of the room leaving Peter over shadowing Lilly. "We need to talk about Lilly" explained Price as Roman lay against the wall. "Tell me" said Roman in a worried rage. "We tried saving her human side, but we couldn't" explained Price as Roman slouched down the wall and put his head in his knees. "What, happens now?" asked Roman as he looked up a Price. "We need to see how she is when she wakes up but it's going to be a bit of a shock to her because we lost her on the table" explained Price as Roman now stood to his feet "she never knew she was half Upir, I never got to tell her and now I'm going to have to explain everything to her" said Roman as he stepped back inside to see Lilly still sleeping.
