~GON POV:~

"-illua let me see!" I heard some faint voices In Leorio's office. I was walking down the hallway of the hospital that my friend Leorio works at. It was his lunch break but he was dealing with another patient, so I offered to go grab him some lunch.

I got up to the door with a bag of ramen noodles and other snacks in hand, I was about to knock but then I heard a voice I've never heard before. The person sounded troubled.

"No old man !" The other person yelled.

I slowly knocked on the door.

"Yes?!" I hear Leorio shout.

I slowly peak my head through the door and slowly stepped in.

"Sorry if I'm interrupting but I have your lunch Leorio" I said politely but got chills when I noticed the patient literally staring right into my soul as I handed Leorio the bag.

"Thanks kiddo" Leorio thanked me.

I don't know what came over me, but I turned my head towards the hospital bed and saw probably the most beautiful person I've ever seen.

He has gorgeous white fluffy hair, I wonder if it will feel like a cloud if I touch it. Beautiful pale complexion and cat-shaped like blue eyes. Staring right at me, with a frown.

"Are you sick?" His voice cut me off my thoughts.

"Huh?" I stuttered.

"Your face is red, are you feeling ok?" The boy eyed me.

"Oh no I'm not sick! I must be exhausted from running from the supermarket to the hospital hehe..." I lied. Oh shoot, he caught me staring, was I blushing?

"Whatever, stop staring at me you weirdo" the boy mumbles.

"Killua be nice! This is my friend Gon" Leorio said. I gave him a tiny wave.

He looks at me again. "Hey.." he says softly.

I smile "hi Killua it's nice to meet you"

I swore I saw a bit of blush.

After Leorio was checking up with Killua, he ushered me outside his office and left Killua alone for a bit.

He closed the door and sighed.

"What's wrong Leorio?" I asked.

"Hey sorry about his bratty attitude, he doesn't have many friends and ummm...he kind of has a dark past" Leorio explained.

"Dark past?" I questioned.

Leorio put his hand on my shoulder.

"I shouldn't be telling anyone this, because it's his personal life, but I feel like he needs a friend and he's the same age as you, he's just 12 and he's already been through so much. I won't get into detail but let's just say his family are abusive, I swear they're a bunch of psychopaths, and Killua is struggling, a lot, so I think a good friend will maybe help him in this time" Leorio said.

I immediately felt anger course through my body. How can parents do that to their own child?

"I will be his friend..." I said quietly.

Leorio gave me a shocked look.

"You want to? That'll be great!" He cheered.

"Even if he keeps pushing me away, I want to be his only friend, the one who he relies on most" I squeeze my shirt from where my chest is. My heart won't stop beating.

Leorio nodded and smiled.

"Very well, maybe if you'd like you can visit him whenever you want. He could use the company"

I nod with a look of determination.

It's been about a month since I met Killua, and I visited him everyday from that day. At first he was hesitant and pushy and tried to ignore me multiple times, but now I think he's slowly warming up to me, I can even proudly call him my best friend now. We're that close.

"And then he fell off the swing!" I wheezed. Killua burst out laughing.

We were interrupted when Leorio came in with a clipboard. Our laughter died down.

"What are you two laughing about?" Leorio asked.

"I was telling Killua the swing story" I giggled.

Leorio huffed. "It wasn't my fault! Those swings weren't stable! Now I'm sorry Gon but I gotta run some tests on Killua now"

I whine, "ohh why can't I stay?" I pouted

"Because it's private-"

"He can stay..." Killua interrupted Leorio.

We both give him surprised looks.

"Are you sure Killua?" Leorio asked. Killua nodded.

For a couple of minutes Leorio was doing some tests here and there on Killua. He then stopped and grabbed Killua's arm.

"Killua have you been doing it recently?" Leorio asked hesitantly. I was confused so I titled my head.

Killua looked nervous. "Not really actually..." he said quietly.

Leorio nodded and slowly lifted up his sleeve but as he was halfway he turned back to me.

"Kid I think you should stay out of this one" he said with a bit of sadness in his voice.

I squinted my eyes.

"But-"

"I said Gon can stay so he's staying!" Killua spoke a bit louder. Making me and Leorio jump.

Leorio bit his lip and rolled up Killua's sleeve.

My eyes widened at the sight.

Scars. Lots and lots of faded scars on his arm, no doubt there were others on his other arm.

The situation finally clicked in my head.

I looked up at Killua with saddened eyes.

He looked down and didn't meet my eyes.

After Leorio left the room to do something test results, it was just me and Killua left alone, in silence.

"Gon..." Killua said in a deep voice. It kinda scared me how serious it sounded.

"Would you be upset if I disappeared?" Killua said in a very faint quiet tone. Of course I heard.

I stood up from my chair with wide eyes.

"What are you talking about?! Stop saying those things!" I cried.

Killua looked up at me with a hurt expression.

"You know....before I met you I tried before...but now not so much" Killua said.

I felt tears flowing.

I ran up towards him and hugged him tightly, I buried my face into his neck.

"Don't go anywhere! Just stay with me..." I sobbed.

Killua patted my back.

"I won't..." he said.

Gon....you're like the sun shining through my dark world....without you....i don't know if I would even be here.
