Chapter 5: In The Woods

Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails head to the middle of the woods. As they reach a pond, they see a figure in the distance walking towards them, "Guys what or who's that?" Sonic worries shaking his arms and legs uncontrollably until they see its Shadow, "Wait Shadow? What are you doing here?" Tails asks baffled by his appearance. Shadow stands there not wanting to tell them anything while Knuckles gets irritated, "Come on fox we need to get back and we are bringing Shadow with us." Shadow hesitates, "I can't go with you guys I'm going to stay with Sonic. There is something you guys don't know and I want to keep it that way." Tails and Knuckles stare at Shadow, "That sounds pretty suspicious if you ask me." Tails grabs Shadow by the arm dragging him back to the house as Knuckles joins him leaving Sonic behind, "We will see you tomorrow Sonic." Sonic stays near a pond looking at his reflection sad and alone. On the way back, Tails holds onto Shadow's arm with Knuckles following behind them, "You both shouldn't have brought me back here. You are all in danger so is Sonic go back for him." Knuckles speaks up while looking at the full moon, "No there is something wrong with him we brought him to the woods because something infected him and turned him into a creature." Shadow squeezes Tails arm tight almost screaming in pain, "Shadow let go I mean it stop!" fighting with all his might until Knuckles punches him across the face sending him flying. Shadow's bones start crackling and screams in pain facing both Knuckles and Tails, "Run." Tails and Knuckles start running back to the house. Sonic hears screaming turning around to help his friends until his foot starts hurting, "Oh no it's happening." He starts whining in pain his mouth and body start hurting with his bones feeling like they are breaking. Tails and Knuckles reach the house and go inside, "Shadow infected Sonic and he's a werewolf oh my gosh!" Randall and Jojo see the both of them, "Where were you both? Tom, Maddie, and Rachel were looking for you guys." Knuckles confesses, "I know this seems very suspicious that we came back without Sonic but we need to explain ourselves. Shadow our friend is a werewolf and has infected Sonic with the same thing meaning he is also a werewolf. We took him to the woods so he is able to turn there instead of at the house." Jojo tells Randall, "Aunt Maddie and Uncle Tommy are in the woods with my mom looking for them we need to go and find them before something happens to them." the four of them open the door, "On second thought we should stay." Randall says. Tom, Maddie, and Rachel are looking for the three boys, "Sonic! Tails! Knuckles!" Maddie says holding a flashlight in her hands, "I don't think they are out here they might be back at the house or are just hiding to mess with us." Tom thinks that Rachel is right and advises Maddie, "Look we can just go back home right now and we can have this talk with them in the morning." The three of them hear footsteps walking towards them as Maddie puts the light from the flashlight onto the creature looking at them with dark green eyes and dark blue fur, "Run! Run! Don't look back!" The three start running back as the creature starts running after them with blood coming from its mouth after eating an animal. Rachel trips over a stick seeing the beast walk slowly towards her snarling at her and is about to dash up to her until something jumps onto the creature and they start fighting. Rachel uses this time to get up and run back to the house and sees Knuckles and Tails along with Tom and Maddie standing there, "Rachel I thought something happened to you." she says worried about her sister, "Are you okay?" Rachel lets her know, "Yeah a creature saved me." Knuckles tells her, "That creature that saved you must've been Shadow. Sonic is a werewolf infected by venom from the bite that he got last night." Tom couldn't believe what he heard, "Sonic was acting weird all day it all makes sense. Why wouldn't he tell me the truth?" Tails puts his head down in sadness at a loss for words. Tom tries to go outside to look for Sonic until Maddie stops him, "We can't go back outside that thing is still out there." Maddie starts to cry with her husband comforting her, "Our son is out there regardless if he is a werewolf or not I'm going to find him and bring him home. Everyone stay here." Tom leaves the house to find Sonic hoping he will come home.
