Chapter 14: Back At Home

Maddie drives everyone home after saving Tom. Maddie parks the car to see her husband injured, "Tom..." she says quietly looking around to find Sonic, "Where's Sonic?" Tails and Knuckles look at each other with sad look on their face, "Boys where is he?!" Tails is frightened by her yells as Knuckles tells her the news, "Robotnik brainwashed him and he's under his control and almost hurt Tom back at his base" Maddie tells her sons, "Tell me everything when we go inside and help your dad for now help me get him inside" Tails and Knuckles carry Tom inside as Maddie opens the door for them seeing the bruises on his arms, "Tom why would you go out like that?" she asks herself as her sons are putting pillows on him to make him comfortable. Shadow looks around in his werewolf form to see Maddie upset with tears in her eyes as he walks up to comfort her, "It's my fault for not seeing him leave" Shadow hugs Maddie, "He never even told me" Maddie returns his hug by hugging him back as Tails and Knuckles are putting bandages on Tom. After a couple of minutes, Randall and Rachel see how badly Tom is hurt, "Oh my goodness Tom! I hope he's alright" she tells her sister Maddie, "I hope nothing happens to Tom he's a good guy. Who did this?" Tails tells him, "Eggman did this! We will make sure he doesn't do anything like this to anyone ever again" Randall tells Maddie, "I never hated Tom he's like a brother to me" he looks to notice someone hugging Maddie, "Is that Shadow hugging you?" he asks curious to which Maddie responds, "Yes Robotnik didn't get him but he got Sonic. He brainwashed him and he's working for him" Rachel comforts her sister, "We will get Sonic back we may never know if Robotnik is trying to find a cure for his condition..." Maddie interrupts her, "There is no cure!" She yells out loud as her sister is in shock to hear her yell like that, "Rachel I understand you're in shock as well as the rest of us but give Maddie and Tom a break. I know you want them to split but she loves him and that's something that none of us can take away" Rachel takes Tails advice into consideration, "Your right Maddie did raise the three of you right. Good job sis" Maddie stops crying wiping her tears hearing her sister's compliment, "Thank you I try with the three of them and it really paid off" Moments later, Tom wakes up, "What happened?" questioning where he is confused, "A lot has happened the last couple of hours" Tom thinks for a moment, "Wait where's Sonic?" looking around to find the blue blur but is no where in sight. Knuckles tells his father with sadness in his voice, "The hedgehog is with Eggman for the time being. He is under his control but we aren't going to give up on him!" Tom is in shock, "The only reason why I left was because I was going to find a cure for his and Shadow's condition but then something happened. Sonic surrendered himself to Robotnik to save me but never thought he did it to where he would be loyal to the doctor along with Agent Stone" Tom tries to get up but falls back onto the couch due to his injuries still in pain, "Tom buddy don't get up alright?" Randall tells him caring for him like they are brothers. Tails worries for his dad, "I just hope he's okay and his injuries don't get worse" he eventually looks at Shadow, "Thank you for helping my dad. I hope you're ready to help Sonic whenever the time comes" Shadow talks, "Hmph yeah I am!" with aggression in his voice, "Whoa you talked!" Tails says shocked as he adds, "If we are going to help and save Sonic, we are going to need more than just ourselves to help him and I know just what to do" Knuckles looks at Tails seeing the serious look on his face, "I know you want Sonic back but we need to think of a better plan than what we did back at his base" Tails agrees, "You're right!" Maddie forbids it, "No! You boys aren't going anywhere I just got you back and now you both are going to risk your lives again? Not a chance!" Tom puts his hand on his wife's arm, "Let them they need to help their brother" Randall and Jojo chime in, "He's right" they tell her in unison. Maddie gives her final answer, "Okay fine but on one condition, you both need to bring him back if or if you don't have a cure for his condition" Tails and Knuckles agree as Shadow joins them. Tails looks back seeing the weapons he has in his bag that is on the table bringing them to the car along with Knuckles and Shadow joining him, "Let's go get Sonic"
