They said get married.
They said it was fun...This is pure fucking torture. No way in hell am I being made to stay away from my wife after our wedding too. I am highly offended that I have been kiss blocked by my family the last three times I have tried to kiss her.
I am not being cockblocked anymore rather I am being kiss blocked!
I am extremely frustrated with all this rituals.Pre wedding rituals.
You can't see your bride.
Post wedding rituals...
You can't touch your wife. What kind of fuckery is this?
I have been greatly decieved by the films, serials and books about weddings. And how after marriage it is all roses and paradise and honeymoon phase.
But no!
That is not true. According to both Rajasthani and Bengali culture the girl is not supposed to sleep in her husband's room the day of their marriage until she has the Ashirvaad brought over to her husbands house from her maternal house.
If I knew how much of a menace this all would be I swear I would have eloped with Evara and married her in a temple.
But now I can't do anything. What is done is done.
After the ring finding ritual. There is a ritual in our family where the mother in law gives the bride jewellery equivalent to her weight so they made Evara sit on a silver weighing scale as Maa put her jewellery on the other side.
"Deba kaki... Please is this necessary?" Evara asked in a low tone confused about this ritual.
"It is your jewellery." She whispered, continuing her train of thoughts.
"Oh dear! Eva. You are like Amara to me. You are like my daughter. So call me, maa like Atharva. Secondly, this is the jewellery me and Anurag bought for our Athu's bride. It is for you. It is meant for you. It is not mine." Maa told Evara with a smile and leaned forward to brush her lips on Evara's forehead.
"But maa.." Evara trailed off trying to reason with my mother.
"Evara you call me maa and say but in the same sentence. What should I feel about that?" Maa asked seriously. Her eyes were scrutinizing and demanding.
Evara knowing well she could not argue with that sealed her lips in complete and utter silence.
"Atharva. Come here..." Maa motioned me to kneel down in front of Evara. And I followed as I was told to do. Then she looked at papa with a gentle and Serene smile and nodded her head. Papa walked up to us with a small bronze case and opened it slowly.
"These are the khandani kangan. These are the bangles passed down from generation to generation in the Roy Family's Elder daughter in law. My mother in law gave these to me. Now they are your Evara. Please take good care of them and our family." Maa said while passing the Bangles to me so that I could make Evara wear them.
