All I see is darkness, there's nothing there to be seen. But I can make out a sound, a beeping noise, it's coming somewhere to the side but I can't make out where it is coming from or what it is. I can just about make out voices but they're in the distance, almost as if they're in another room. I can't make out what they're saying. But wait, there's something else, a door opening and footsteps, they're getting closer.
"Oh my poor Anna," comes a familiar voice, one I haven't heard in many years and the only loved one I haven't seen in this dream yet. But why can't I see her? "I'm sorry I haven't been to see you but you're quite popular and I can't risk being seen with you. Especially with the company you keep, who would have guessed one of our lot being in the FBI?" I feel her take my hand, it's surprisingly warm against my skin. "I just want you to know I'm so sorry for leaving you the way I did. For everything that's happened since I left, I wanted to come and see you after Auntie Sarah and Uncle Danny died, but Uncle Kieran and Uncle Ryan wouldn't let me, they said it would blow our cover. I'm so sorry my sweet girl, I promised you that I would never let anyone hurt you yet here you are."
My hand is gently placed back down, on what I think is a blanket. There is a short pause before I hear water being poured into a glass, well I'm guessing it's a glass I'm still in blackness so I have no way of knowing for sure. "I was talking to Spencer, we've talked a few times since you've been in here. He dotes on you, he keeps me up to date on how you are. He also told me about Alan, I've never met the man but I hate him already. Don't worry about him Anna, I'll take care of him, I promise. I guess the next generation of the McKay's are as strong as the last, that little baby of yours is still holding on in there. Although your team are keeping it from Alan they really love you. He or she must be strong holding on through this coma, it's been two weeks, Uncle Kieran and Uncle Ryan keep telling me that we need to go back to Ireland but I told them I'm not leaving until you wake up. What are big sisters for? I should be going now, it's almost visiting time and if I know that Spencer one he'll be in like a rocket as soon as he's allowed. Love you Anna, and don't worry about Alan, he'll get what's coming to him, I promise, and you know I always keep my promises." I feel lips being pressed against my forehead before footsteps can be heard, I just make out a door opening then closing again and now I'm left alone in the blackness once more.

"I have to get to the hospital." I argue with Morgan on the phone as I juggle the new teddy I got for Alannah and my phone while trying to lock my car.
"We could really use your help on this case kid." Morgan begs as I walk towards the hospital.
"Today could be the day she wakes up, I'm not leaving her."
"Not even to help out with a case here in DC?"
"No Morgan. I'm sure you guys will figure it out."
"I'm not sure about that one, it's a strange case. This sicko is tying his victims up, sexually assaulting them and then dumping their bodies in dumpsters all over the city. He's not leaving a scrap of evidence to tie him to the murders. All we have is he likes dark haired European women in their 20's." I always thought it was weird that this Unsub's type matched Alannah, some of them could be distant relatives; they look so much alike. We did look into Alan being the Unsub but nothing came from it and Hotch was getting heat from Cruz so we had to start looking elsewhere.
"I don't want her waking up to no one, she's spent most of her life alone. I want her to know that there are people out there who care and love her."
"Not to mention you wanna ask her if the baby is a mini Reid."
"Bye Morgan." I hang up on Morgan and make my way into the hospital, it's five minutes until visiting hour starts in the ICU. It's an easier trip since Alannah was moved to a hospital in DC instead of staying in New York by myself. Alan went back to work the day after Alannah was taken into hospital. He doesn't even visit much. The team have been preoccupied with these murders, Hotch is getting pressure from above but it's a difficult case each murder is different, the victimology is the same and they are all sexually assaulted but each woman has been killed in a different manner, he seems to have taken a shine to strangulation since it's the only method he's used twice on his victims.
"Spencer." That soothing Irish accent startles me out of my thoughts.
"Niamh Hiya." I stop and return Niamh's friendly smile.
"You on your way up to see Alannah?"
"Yeah, you not visiting your sister, Anna isn't it?" Niamh's sister was also moved to DC since they live here, they were only in New York for a weekend when Anna had her accident.
"Yeah I just did, I told the nurses I had to be somewhere in half an hour but really wanted to make sure she was ok so they let me in for five minutes."
"That was nice of them, they're normally really strict."
"Yeah, I guess I'm really persuasive. I blame the accent."
"Haha yeah I have to say, lately I'm loving the Irish accent, but you might want to be careful."
"How come?"
"My team and I are investigating a serial killer, he's after young, dark haired, European woman."
"Shite, better keep my wits about me then."
"Yeah don't want to be investigating your murder."
"Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I should get going, and you should see that girl of yours."
"Thanks Niamh." We trade friendly smiles before parting ways.
I make my way to the doors of the ICU just in time as the nurses open the doors to visitors. I walk down the corridor to where Alannah has been for the last two weeks. I walk into her room to see her lying peacefully on the bed. I walk over towards her and place the teddy by her side, I put a label on it from the team so that Alan wouldn't get suspicious. "Alannah, it's me, Spencer." I say as I take her hand in mine, it was the same every time I visited her on my own, when Alan was here I would keep to the outskirts of the room so he didn't get angry.
"We could really use your help right now. There's this case, I have a feeling that there's more to it than meets the eyes, something about it feels familiar. I hate going off my instincts, I've never really had the best instincts. I don't know how I managed to get into the FBI. I wish you would wake up, I want to see those beautiful blue eyes again, I want to hear that voice of yours. I miss your accent. Although I was talking to Niamh again. She's really nice, you would like her. Her little sister Anna was in an accident, I don't know what it is but I really open up to her, she reminds me a lot of you."
It's hard to know what to say, I wish she would wake up, Alannah always knew what to say. "The baby is still holding on, Morgan says he or she takes after you, it's stubborn. I said you would hit him for saying that but he means it in a nice way apparently. The team all miss you, Garcia want's to camp out here with her computers until you wake up. Hotch says she's more use at the office, although she begs to differ. Garcia, JJ and Kate helped me pick out the teddy, I didn't think it was a job for Morgan, Hotch or Rossi. I wish you would just open your eyes, say something, squeeze my hand, anything please Alannah if you can hear me let me know because I just need something some sign of hope that I can hold onto when I'm not here."
It's almost as if she heard my words as her hand tightens around mine, "That's it, Alannah can you hear me?" I fall from the chair to my knees and look to her face to see her eyes fluttering, "Alannah, can you hear me? It's Spencer, come on you can do it just open your eyes." Her eyes begin to open.
"Spence." My name leaves her lips, her voice is dry as she tries to speak.
"Shhh, it's ok I'm just going to get the doctor, I'll be back in a second." I run to get a doctor, I've never smiled so much in my life, Alannah was finally awake and no one was going to dampen this moment.
