I run back down the corridor to get back to Alannah's room, closely followed by the nurse calling after me, Hotch is still shouting down the phone but I'm not paying attention to what he's saying. I'm too worried about Alannah. I make it to her room but I have to grab hold of the door frame in order to catch myself before I ran past it. I swing into the room to see Alannah sitting on the bed, looking at me with such confusion as to why I was so worried.

"Where's the fire." Alannah jokes.

"Sir is everything alright?" The nurse from the desk asks as she catches up with me, the concern can clearly be heard in her voice.

"Get security here now." I order, the nurse doesn't hesitate as she runs out of the room. I put the phone back up to my ear, "Hotch I think Alan is in the hospital, I'm going to take Alannah back to the office to keep her safe."

"Alan's here?" Alannah's expression turns from humor to worry.

"I think I saw him, I can't be sure but I'm not taking any risks for you and the baby."

"Reid what are you going to do?" Hotch asks.

"I'll let you know when I figure it out, I'll be there as soon as I can."

"Well put out a warrant for Alan's arrest. Keep Alannah save."

"I will." I hang up and place my phone in my pocket as I walk over to the chair beside Alannah's bed to get my bag so I can get my gun.

"Spencer, you're scaring me now, what's going on?" Alannah asks.

I look towards her to see a look of fear in her eyes. I drop the bag back onto the chair, forgetting about the gun. I'm more concerned about Alannah stressing out too much, I walk over to her and take her face in my hands. "Listen to me, no matter what happens, I will protect you; both of you. But we need to go back to the office, I don't know if we're safe here but I know we will be safer at the office."

"Did Garcia find any information out about Alan and these murders?"

I drop my hands and take a seat next to her on the bed. "Yeah she did. Turns out Alan was in the surrounding area of two of the dump sites around the time the victims were dumped. There was also a killing in LA that matches the M.O. while he was there on a training exercise."

"How could I not notice he was killing those poor girls? What kind of agent am I that I can't even notice that my boyfriend is a murder."

"Hey, don't beat yourself up, you've been through enough. The timing of these murders match to times when we were away on cases. He most likely needed a way to get his frustration out when you weren't around so he went looking for surrogates."

"I should have stopped him sooner."

"Hey, don't you dare. You did your job by keeping him happy when you were home, we were the ones that got him to go on training exercises and took on more cases to keep you away from him."

"Yeah I kinda guessed you lot were behind all of that." Alannah gives a weak smile that I can't help but fall in love with, the way those perfect blue eyes sparkle. The way those perfect pink lips curled into a slight smile.

"You know, when you were shot I kept thinking the worst. Your heart stopped on the way to the hospital and it felt like my world was falling apart. I don't think I would have been able to go on if you..." I can't bring myself to finish the sentence. Tears begin to fall from my eyes as I retell the story.

"I should have told you about the baby when I found out. I was just scared in case you would hate me, or in case it was Alan's. I wanted to find out for sure before I told you so I wouldn't get your hopes up only for them to be dashed."

"I handled it wrong, I know you were scared because it complicated matters even more. I was just upset you didn't tell me, that you felt you had to lie to me. But I understand now, you were just trying to protect me until you found out more information."

"No more lies or keeping the truth from each other, from now on we tell each other everything." Alannah smiles sweetly at me, making me feel guilty. How could I make that promise to her when I was keeping the secret that her sister was alive and her uncles were keeping track of her?

"You asked for us sir?" A voice from the door startles us from our conversation. I look up to see two security guards standing there.

"Err yes, I need you to keep a look out for a man of the name Alan Macy. Alannah have you got a picture of him?" I take control. It was time I stood up and protected my family from that monster.

"Yeah I should have on my phone." Alannah answers as she looks around for her phone.

"Where is it? I'll get it for you." I offer, seeing that stretching to look was hurting her wound.

"It should be on the bedside cabinet charging." Alannah says but there is nothing on the cabinet apart from a jug of water.

"It's not there."

"No it has to be." Alannah tries to get up but doubles over in pain.

"Alannah." I cry out as I guide her back to the bed. "What is it?"

"If it isn't there then the only person that could have taken it was Alan last night."

"Is that a bad thing?"

"Yes, very bad. I was texting Garcia about the baby, I forgot to delete them. If he has my phone then he knows everything and I mean everything, about you and me, the baby, everything we've been trying to protect from him."

"That's why he didn't leave for Ohio, He's looking for revenge." Everything suddenly makes sense. I turn to the guards who are still at the doorway. "Ok could one of you call Penelope Garcia at the FBI and get her to send you a picture of Alan Macy, say Dr Spencer Reid said you will need it. Give it to all guards and have them look out for him. Be careful and if you see him call the FBI straight away." I don't know where this confidence was coming from, but I was giving orders like Hotch.

"Not the police?" One of the guards ask.

"No, he is a police officer so if he has any friends left in the force then they could be helping him. This goes straight to the BAU, not one of us will be working with him." The guards turn and run off to follow their orders. "We need to get you out of here." I say as I grab Alannah's bag and start to pack her things.

"Going somewhere Dr Reid?" The voice sends chills down my spine, I look over to Alannah who has her petrified eyes locked to the door. I turn to the door to see Alan standing there with a knife in his hand and a wheelchair in front of him.

"Just thought I would help Alannah pack her things for when she leaves." I lie, although I'm not sure why I was lying. "I thought you were in Ohio?"

"I had a change of heart." The angry tone in his voice just adding to the intimidation. I glance to my bag where my gun was to see if there was any way that I would be able to get it. "Your gun in there?" Alan asks as he notices me looking at my bag. "I'll take that as a yes, not very smart for a genius is it. I can't believe you cheated on me with this piece of shit."

"Alan we can talk about this." Alannah tries to reason with him, but there is no reasoning with someone like this.

"Don't try that bullshit on me Alannah. See I have a plan to get back at you two, I'm gonna take everything you two love away before slowly killing you and that little sprog and making the so called genius Dr. Reid watch. By the time I'm finished, you will be begging for death, and I will happily oblige."
